The best area to stay in Ou-Ts'O is the central village area, particularly around the Ou-Ts'O Community Activity Centre.

This area is the heart of Ou-Ts'O, known for its traditional Fujianese architecture, including red-brick houses and ancestral temples. It's a compact village, making it very walkable, and many guesthouses are converted traditional homes. The Ou-Ts'O Wind Lion God is a prominent landmark, and the area offers a glimpse into local life.

Couples often enjoy staying in the central village. The quiet lanes and unique guesthouses provide a distinctive and romantic experience. You're also well-placed to explore the village's small shops and eateries, and it's a lovely base for leisurely strolls.

Families might also find the central village appealing. The pedestrian-friendly streets mean children can explore freely, and the cultural sites offer educational opportunities.

The best time to go to Ou-Ts'O is during the autumn months, specifically from September to November, for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During autumn, the weather is generally mild and sunny, with lower humidity compared to the summer. This makes it ideal for exploring the island's historical sites, scenic landscapes, and outdoor activities without the intense heat or the heavy rainfall that can occur during the monsoon season.

Spring, from March to May, is also a good option, offering comfortable temperatures and the beauty of blooming flora. However, you might encounter more visitors during this period, especially around public holidays.

The summer months, June to August, can be quite hot and humid, with a higher chance of typhoons, which might disrupt travel plans.
