"I had been recommended this hotel for our 2 night stay in Oslo. The location is superb. The hotel is nice, in a lovely building. The rooms are on the small side, with difficult access into the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable with lovely bedding. However, the towels were simply awful. They are very small and not pleasant to use, being polyester and cotton - and I am a small person. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. I would recommend it. Please note that there seems to be strike of housekeeping going on. I am not sure if this is throughout Oslo, or just this hotel. We were not forewarned. However, it did not affect us. The staff we met were lovely."

"Had a great room with a city view. Construction work going on next door but the double glazing helped enormously. Room clean was generally good but came too late in the day. Requested an earlier clean. Enjoyed the piano player in the lobby. No bar service due to strike. Concierge often not available. Overall, well located and would return. Gep, Melbourne"

"We loved this Hotel. It is not for you if you are looking for fancy or even 3 star amenitues but the soft spring coil mattress with foam topper was comfortable. The duvet and pillows were excellent. The staff were welcoming and helpful, the atmosphere is hip and the whole place is geared toward longer stays. And the location is perfect. 15 min walk to the oslofjord(waterfront) and closer to other key sites. Very walkable area of the city. They are working hard at environmental sustainability. The back side of the hotel has a view of the city but it is in the centre of the Oslo nightclub scene so weekends are noisy if your window is open. However you really feel part of the energy of the city."

"Dinner option was just a terrible buffet only at a very high cost. Staff didn’t give info that guests can walk out to eat at the airport restaurants accessible without requiring a boarding pass. No water bottles in the room. No creamer for coffee or tea. No one to help with luggage. Worst hotel."

Grand Hotel Oslo by Scandic

"Nothing "Grand" about the Grand Oslo. Don't Stay here! The service at the hotel was non-existent. While there was a general strike affecting some hotels in Oslo, they did not inform the guests in advance. They did not compensate the hotel guests in any way - like a free breakfast, dinner or discount. I selected the Grand Oslo over other hotels for it's amenities like the gym, spa and roof top bar. None of them were open for my entire stay. Yet the full rate was charged for a full amenities hotel that was never at my disposal. Why was I not compensated in any way by the hotel or Expedia? I stayed at the hotel for 7 days. No one cleaned the room, changed towels, or even emptied the bins. Guests had to do it for themselves. You could request some service and you "might" have gotten it, if you were lucky. While the strike was outside of the hotel and it's owner corporation Skandic's control, the service, communication on site, and sensitivity to guests was completely in their control and they failed at every turn. My enjoyment of Oslo was coloured by this poor experience. I have little confidence that this hotel could offer a 5 star experience when the strike is over. I encourage others to look at other hotels and chains when decided to visit Oslo. Signed, Extremely Disappointed."
