There are plenty of ways to experience Bora Bora’s mesmerizing peak, including sightseeing boat tours, helicopter rides, catamaran trips and hiking adventures.
Overlooked by luxurious resorts and atmospheric bars, Bora Bora’s southernmost tip is a narrow stretch of lush forest skirted by white sands and cerulean waters.
"We stayed at the Royal Bora Bora for only one night in between other parts of our trip but should have planned for more nights here. While the pool is small and the fish sandwiches we had at the bar restaurant were awful, the overall resort is charming, a cool Polynesian vibe, great breakfast buffet and family friendly games area near the very nice beach with kayaks available. It is walkable to the famous Matira beach, which was beautiful, and the hotel has fun transportation to town available for guests. We were there in July during the Heiva Polynesian dance competitions, which were amazing to watch. Highly recommend for a quality, reasonably priced stay. "
"I can’t praise this place enough—it’s hands-down the best getaway we've ever had! The property itself is stunning, spacious, and completely one-of-a-kind. The hosts go above and beyond—they’re incredibly kind, helpful, and delightful. Guests can hop on the bikes they provide and enjoy a scenic ride to the beach, or pedal the other direction into town. A note for those with mobility concerns: there’s a short but steep walk up and down the mountain to reach the main road. It wasn’t an issue for us, but it’s worth keeping in mind. With all that said, if we are to return to Bora Bora we we’ll definitely be coming back here!"
"HospitalityPkus! Stayed one night on a cruise ship getaway to Bora Bora. Owner was awesome as we checked in very late. Non traditional check in, fit for family. Asked our name and took us directly to the room. We chatted and got to know her. Wonderful low key stay!"
The Black Pearl! The most luxurious private OVER WATER BUNGALOW on Bora Bora!
10/10 Excellent
"This was our dream retirement trip, and we booked this overwater bungalow a year in advance to stay two weeks. We completely loved staying here!!! It was very private and spacious and beautiful and well-equipped. Nir was also fantastic - we communicated before and during our stay. He was always very friendly, quick to respond, and his recommendations were great! You will need a car to stay here. We rented a car from Nir, and he made it so easy & convenient! (Plan ahead to bring local XPF currency for that). The coral and fish directly around the bungalow were unbelievably beautiful! We spent many hours in the water right there. Sometimes the water was so clear that we didn't even need to get in to watch the fish! We used the bungalow's kayak and paddled out to the motu, which was fun & gorgeous! There is so much to watch just while relaxing on the back deck of the bungalow- ferries, planes, tour boats, kayaks, etc. This is a great place to relax, have fun, and enjoy all that Bora Bora has to offer! My husband & I highly recommend it, without hesitation! "
Matira, located at the southern tip of Bora Bora, is the best area to stay for travellers seeking a slice of paradise in French Polynesia. This beautiful neighbourhood is known for its stunning crescent-shaped beach, where soft, white sands meet the vibrant turquoise waters of the lagoon. It's an ideal spot for relaxation, with easy access to snorkelling opportunities that reveal colourful marine life and coral reefs just beneath the warm, transparent surface.
For families looking to enjoy a beach vacation, Matira offers a friendly atmosphere with shallow waters superb for children to play. The beach's long, gentle slope makes it safe and accessible, while ample free parking and nearby facilities enhance convenience. Pack a picnic, find a shady spot under the palm trees, and enjoy a day of sun-soaked fun together.
Couples seeking romance will find Matira to be a dreamy escape. Imagine watching a breathtaking sunset while listening to the soft strumming of a local musician's ukulele. As the crowds dissipate in the evening, it becomes a serene setting for intimate moments, making it the superb backdrop for cherished memories.
When is the best time to go to Nunue?
The most popular time to visit Nuuk is January, when the city comes alive with a unique blend of winter activities and cultural events.
