"This place had the feel of a "best-kept-secret"; gem-of-a-find type place. Everything about staying there was fascinating. As the management, to their credit, explicitly warns on their listings, the structure is old and rustic. But this wasn't a deterrent in any way, it adds to the charm and they do an excellent job keeping it clean, well maintained and accommodating. As a westerner looking to explore some backwaters parts of Japan and stay in a traditional Onsen ryokan that is not a tourist trap, this was the perfect best-of-both-worlds fit. The manager spoke good English and was helpful so that there was no confusion or culture shock, but none of the authenticity was compromised. I would certainly stay there again, even go out of my way again - drive up to the mountains - in order to stay there if overnighting en route to or from Tokyo southward."

"Personnel courtois et très serviable. On nous a grandement aidé pour l’envoi de nos bagages en plus de nous aider à régler un problème de réservation à un autre hôtel. Le jeune homme à l’accueil a été très patient, souriant et avenant. Nous avons bien apprécié la crème glacée offerte en fin de soirée. Merci pour l’accueil chaleureux."

"Typical Dormy Inn, clean with efficient staff. Not too far from train station and the major attractions in Matsumoto. Took about 10 minutes to walk to the Castle and shopping streets. Public bath was clean and never crowded. Building is a little worn but we'll maintained and of course clean."

"We absolutely loved our stay at this wonderful hotel. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable — a perfect place to relax and unwind. The meals were truly exceptional and among the most special dining experiences we had during our trip. The hotel is located in a charming little town that feels almost as if it were taken straight out of a movie. The atmosphere, surroundings, and attention to detail made our stay feel very special. Staff was kind and friendly, facilities were a little dated and the lighting inside the room needs updating, pure white light is not the most pleasant, however the traditional Japanese bedroom experience was very cool! Breakfast was also awesome! That alone made this experience super cool!"
