Beautiful Hotel

Posted 28-Aug-2016
Pros: The lobby is breathtaking.
The service we received from all staff was fantastic. This hotel is in a great location in Manhattan! Easy walking distance to Time Square. The beds were very comfortable. I highly recommend the Waldorf Astoria.

Dear Michelle, Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at our hotel. Our lobby has a famed history of being a great meeting place, second to only the clock at Grand Central Station and the Empire State Building. We will never grow tired of reading such complimenting reviews or of providing the type of service that warrants feedback such as yours.

Wonderful ICONIC HOTEL!

Posted 28-Aug-2016
Pros: Everything was awesome!
Cons: Furniture can be updated a bit.
Location: Close to everything. We walked a block up to St. Patrick's Cathedral and went for lunch at Maloney and Porcelli. Really centrally located.
Magnificent architecture and ambiance. A true classical icon. It beams with nostalgia and royalty. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Impeccable service by all the staffing. Easy checkin. Food was good and great shopping too!

Dear Roe, Thank you for taking the time to describe your recent stay with us in such glowing terms. Historic sophistication and modern luxuries are uniquely part of the same compelling experience at the Waldorf Astoria. I am pleased to read that this was your impression. We take feedback from our guests very seriously, and guest room appearance is an area of our hotel that we are actively examining. It is certainly a great reward to read such praising feedback from a valued guest, and we hope for the opportunity to host you again in the near future to create more unforgettable Waldorf moments.

A beautiful hotel that offers lovely arte-facts.

Posted 25-Aug-2016
We had a lovely stay and most of the staff was very helpful. The location was great and so was the room service. The food and drinks are on the expensive side though. It is sad to hear that part of the hotel-rooms seem to get transformed into apartments as this will change the character of this historic venue.

Dear Darren, I would like to thank you for taking the time to relate your comments pertaining your time you spent with us at the Waldorf Astoria. It was great to learn that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay with us. However what really makes me feel proud to hear is about the friendly and polite services provided by our staff. Horrible stench of over deodorized room

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: The staff was great.
Cons: Get a new deodorizer or use a fan.
Location: close proximity to many things within wallking distance and subway and hwy.
The hotel is dated but still holds some of it's beauty. Hotel staff and grounds were clean however upon entering the room we were hit in the face with a horrible deodorizer. I joked with my husband that either they were trying to cover up the smell of smoking from the previous guests or they were covering up the smell of a dead body. Yes, it was that bad. The room was clean and bed was extremely comfy but could not get over the deodorizer that was over sprayed and not sure why!

Tired decor in bedroom

Posted 20-Aug-2016
The lobby certainly has the wow factor but the actual bedroom and bathroom was not impressive. Poor service on two occasions in the Peacock Alley with a member of staff actually showing aggression towards us and talking over us when we were explaining our frustration at being ignored for a time. Not worth the money for our birthday treat.

I was expecting it to be lush.

Posted 19-Aug-2016
Pros: I liked the "historical-ness".
Cons: The rooms need to be updated. Still historically decorated, but more cushy chairs and desk.
Location: We were close to everything. Only had to take an uber to a few places.
I knew the Waldorf Astoria would be old and historic. I expected it to be more lush than it was. We had trouble finding plugs. Eventually we found the outlet on the side of the desk, but the outlets were sideways and did not allow for my computer charger to be balanced and stay plugged in. The wall paper was coming off the wall in places, so, the room itself felt incomplete. It was a nice experience, but for the price, we will probably stay elsewhere on our next trip to New York.

Treated like royalty!

Posted 18-Aug-2016
Pros: The staff to start, were all courteous and friendly. This hotel is easy to get around and is in such a great location, close to everything.
Cons: Coffee maker in the room. I missed that.
Location: Location is great - close to 5th Ave, close to so many tourist sites, and what you're not close to or within walking distance - a subway ride away!
From the moment we checked in with Tim, we were treated very special. It was my birthday and our wedding anniversary the day we arrived and the staff responded as if we had told them we were giving them something special. Our room wasn't quite ready, but they sent us a message as soon as it was. As we were leaving check-in, we were handed a lovely gift for me and comp drinks for our anniversary. When we arrived in our room, it was amazing. It had been upgraded to a mini-suite and we were so blown away by this 'gift'. So comfortable! Dan, the WA transportation man, was awesome. He kept us from getting lost multiple times and was really very helpful. My husband and I went to the Bull and the Bear for a nightcap after dinner and met Edmond, a charming, personable and wonderfully chatty bartender. He managed to take care of everyone around us, and keep all of the conversations going. He introduced my husband to a smooth old Irish whiskey. We had such a good time, we went back the next night. Staying at the Waldorf for us was to experience the elegance and old time history that the newer hotels don't offer. Thank you so much for this very special moment in time.

Super Service

Posted 16-Aug-2016

Disappointing

Posted 16-Aug-2016
Pros: the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful.
Cons: fix the leak in the ceiling, along with the ice machines.
Location: There are hundreds of things to do!!
The hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly; However, we had no one to assist us with our luggage to get up the stairs into the lobby to check-in. The ice machine on our floor was broken which was unfortunate because our mini-bar in our room was also broken so everything was warm. We called and reported that and they brought us a small refrigerator. We also had a leak in the ceiling in our room that made the carpet wet, in the middle of the night you could hear it dripping. The closet had an awful smell in it, 3 days later our suitcase still smells like the inside of that closet. The bathroom was lovely and the room was spacious. We will not be staying there again on our annual trip to New York.
