"Excellent location. We walked to the hotel with luggage from the train station,10 minutes down a cool street. Used a holylfy e sim for GPS and downloaded the Taxi Go App to get back to the train station for under $8. The New Wakasa staff made the absolute best check in, you have to go to experience it. "Beautiful peaceful ryokan with the full Japanese experience. We loved both of the bookable bathhouses- great after a chilly day in the Deer Park. The kaiseki dinner in your own private adjoining dining room was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were all very lovely. Highly recommend. "

"Wakasa Bettei surprised me as one of my favorite hotels in my 8-day Japan trip. I think it came down to the fact that the premises were cozy and new, the location was serene and close to Todaiji, and the staff were just so friendly. Absolutely gorgeous meals for dinner kaiseki and Japanese-style breakfast too.
