Very traditional and in such an old building it cannot be totally 100% modern conveniences. If you want slick and modern go somewhere else but as an informal traditional style, reasonably priced guesthouse/backpacking hostel it was great. The owner was very welcoming and gave us lots of tips for the local area and is obviously very proud of her guesthouse and Nara. We had a beautiful room with a view of the garden to wake up to. We also had the opportunity to sleep on tatami mats, which won’t suit everyone but at least we can say we tried it. Altough there were some minor hickups with a borrowed charger not working and a toilet not flushing (!) the staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were a bit cramped but ok. House was very picturesque and cozy with its own garden. If you're upstairs, don't come here unless you can handle steep ones. Both receptionists that i dealt with were very friendly, informative and helpful. Had a little trouble adjusting the heat in one of the showers but figured it out eventually. Facilities were good. Common room and garden were very sweet.
