Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Staff is super helpful. Location is fantastic. On the slope, close to the chairlift. You can get your lift ticket at the chairlift station and you can rent your skis at the hotel.
Great breakfasts and dinners provided by the hotel.
Unbelievable views.
Not far from the shuttle bus stop. Head down to your left side and the hotel is the second one down.
Highly recommended if you want a traditional japan accomodation experience.
Everything was great except housekeeping. Instead of full-time staff, the interns were the ones cleaning the rooms. Socks was swept beneath the bed, personal pillows and clothes were left on the ground. Only the edge of the table was wiped. Replenishing of toilet mugs kept decreasing and even had some suspicious liquid in it on the last day of housekeeping. Onsen towels were not cleared and kept piling up.

Such a kind staff and well managed property. If you want an authentic ski experience in the Japanese Alps, I highly recommend staying here. The included breakfast and dinner exceeded expectations and we never wanted to go anywhere else during our stay.
Private onsen in room. Japanese style breakfast and dinner. Ski-in-ski-out to gondola and quad lift which lead to many beginner to advance trails. Loads of amenities. Park a car at hoppo onsen bus stop and call the hotel to pick us.
We were looking for somewhere unique to stay while skiing Shiga Kogen and absolutely found it here. The couple that runs it works very hard to ensure that everything is perfect during your stay from picking you up at the bus stop (if needed), prepping AMAZING breakfasts and dinners and answering any questions you may have. Highly recommended!
Relaxing truly enjoyable stay in Higashidate hotel
This lovely hotel was built long time ago but it is well maintain, located in Happo Onsen right by the gondola. The staff are very polite and helpful. They sent us detailed instructions how to reach the hotel and provided the pick up transport from the bigger bus station. We stayed in their premium room with private Onsen, an amazing massage chair and great views on ski slopes and the surrounding mountains. To be honest, we had hard time to motivate ourselves to leave our room and go skiing :)
The dining was great, our breakfasts and dinners were served in private dining area and we truly enjoyed the delicious meals and humbled and polite service. We hope to be back next year! THANK YOU!!!
The facilities, room, food and location were all excellent. The hotel is right next to a ski lift and beginner slope. The staff and owner were extremely helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Shiga Kogen.
