I have been to many hotels in my lifetime. But this is one of the most magical I ever stayed at. The service is impeccable. The staff so welcoming and the rooms truly luxurious. We stayed in the old part of the hotel and I can only recommend for rooms there. The breakfast is everything you can ask for. Great variety and great quality of everything available. So if you want to feel like a Maharajah or Maharani you have to stay here.

A memorable experience.

Pros: The view from the room was outstanding and the staff were so helpful without being in our faces.
Cons: It was only on check out we were told that we had 20% discount on all food and drink bought in the hotel.
Location: The Gateway of India was a 2 minute walk. We recommend a visit to Ghandi's house and the Dawn Tour was exceptional.

Incredible Hotel

Overall the hotel was beautiful and the service was impeccable. The only flaw I could see was the brown water in the bathroom sink.

Great hotel. Excellent service.

Location: Take an organised tour from the local company located just behind the hotel (near "Al-Amin" money exchange office).
The hotel and the staff were just excellent. Don't miss the 3:30-5:00 PM lounge lunch, which is offered for the hotel guests without any additional charge. Unfortunately, I got a room which was adjusted for handicapped (accessible room), so it wasn't equipped whith the regular luxurious bath and shower. The reception staff was very kind and confirmed a late check-out (3:00 pm instead of noon) for free. If your request for late check-out is refused, try again at the morning of check-out and the answer probably will be changed. Don't use the services offered by the concierge because their prices are 5 times more expensive than out of the hotel. for example: 1) taxi to the airport was offered by the concierge for 5000 ruppies (~65 USD), however the blue and white taxies which are located just next to the main entrance of the hotel charged me for it 1000 ruppies (incl. AC). 2) sim card was offered at the concierge for 1750 ruppies, although its official price is 250 ruppies.

The once beautiful Taj has sadly lost its way.

Posted 22-Oct-2016
The beautiful Taj hotel is as gorgeous as it ever was but unfortunately it has lost its Starboard Bar! This is the the bar where you could, eat, enjoy live music and mix with friends. It is no more and the Zodiac grill, Starboard bar have both given way to a vulgar coffee shop where I was asked to wait in line to enter for breakfast. As a Taj Club guest, I left the long queue in the Sea Lounge to have breakfast downstairs! Shame on you Taj! The atmosphere in the Harbour Bar is non existent! Glory days are over for you Taj!

Classic Hotel

Posted 20-Oct-2016
Location: Across from India Gate. Fairly central for most sightseeing in Mumbai.
Spent 4 nights here from 1st October. The hotel staff are very helpful. We stayed in the tower wing. I know people look down on these rooms but we had a fabulous view of India Gate and the room was very comfortable, especially the bed. Only downside was that there was some refurbishment work being done and although it finished around 7p.m. there were a few occasions when it was intrusive. Breakfast in the morning in the main restaurant was very good and we also ate once in the harbour view restaurant. I would definitely recommend staying here. Didn't feel that the service was over the top and uncomfortable at any time. Used the pool a few times and had a fabulous head massage in the spa. All in all a great stay.
