Great hotel. Excellent service.

Posted 23-Oct-2016
Location: Take an organised tour from the local company located just behind the hotel (near "Al-Amin" money exchange office).
The hotel and the staff were just excellent. Don't miss the 3:30-5:00 PM lounge lunch, which is offered for the hotel guests without any additional charge. Unfortunately, I got a room which was adjusted for handicapped (accessible room), so it wasn't equipped whith the regular luxurious bath and shower. The reception staff was very kind and confirmed a late check-out (3:00 pm instead of noon) for free. If your request for late check-out is refused, try again at the morning of check-out and the answer probably will be changed. Don't use the services offered by the concierge because their prices are 5 times more expensive than out of the hotel. for example: 1) taxi to the airport was offered by the concierge for 5000 ruppies (~65 USD), however the blue and white taxies which are located just next to the main entrance of the hotel charged me for it 1000 ruppies (incl. AC). 2) sim card was offered at the concierge for 1750 ruppies, although its official price is 250 ruppies.

The once beautiful Taj has sadly lost its way.

Posted 22-Oct-2016
The beautiful Taj hotel is as gorgeous as it ever was but unfortunately it has lost its Starboard Bar! This is the the bar where you could, eat, enjoy live music and mix with friends. It is no more and the Zodiac grill, Starboard bar have both given way to a vulgar coffee shop where I was asked to wait in line to enter for breakfast. As a Taj Club guest, I left the long queue in the Sea Lounge to have breakfast downstairs! Shame on you Taj! The atmosphere in the Harbour Bar is non existent! Glory days are over for you Taj!

Classic Hotel

Posted 20-Oct-2016
Location: Across from India Gate. Fairly central for most sightseeing in Mumbai.
Spent 4 nights here from 1st October. The hotel staff are very helpful. We stayed in the tower wing. I know people look down on these rooms but we had a fabulous view of India Gate and the room was very comfortable, especially the bed. Only downside was that there was some refurbishment work being done and although it finished around 7p.m. there were a few occasions when it was intrusive. Breakfast in the morning in the main restaurant was very good and we also ate once in the harbour view restaurant. I would definitely recommend staying here. Didn't feel that the service was over the top and uncomfortable at any time. Used the pool a few times and had a fabulous head massage in the spa. All in all a great stay.

Inexperienced staff, small rooms, noisy & busy

Posted 14-Oct-2016
Location: Location is noisy & hectic across from Gateway to India. The harbor water also stinks from pollution. The hotel has hi end shops so like a mall; busy
Old section small room; plenty of street noise & hallway noise due to marble floors. Long wait time for food in restaurants. If you plan to change US dollars, hotel only accept mint dates 2000 or later; that proposes problems! If you play piano don't go near the grand in the lobby; I was yelled at, yes, yelled at my guard for tinkling on the ivories although no sign posted, do not touch. For the price, I recommend staying elsewhere in town & being treated respectfully as a guest.

Das beste Hotel in Mumbai

Posted 13-Oct-2016

The Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai is the true example of what the 5 star hotels should really be. It was designed with perfection in mind and continues to operate with excellence maintaining the tradition. The taste of luxury and sense of care it gives its guests are the most enjoyable.

Excellent hotel steeped in history!

Posted 04-Sep-2016
Pros: Everything!
Cons: How do you improve on perfection!
Location: I visited Gandhi's house which was really interesting, the public laundry, the main station - if you go in the morning you can see the tiffin carriers
All staff were extremely attentive and went out of their way to give a first class service. The salon gave an excellent service and provided valued advice and tips on haircare, foot and hand treatments. The restaurants provide unlimited delights throughout the day, with a smile, superb service. I will recommend the hotel to friends and family and will undoubtedly book a return visit! First class hotel and service!
