Kids voted this the best place we stayed! They enjoyed having their own private mezzanine complete with bean bags and games. We enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings. Basic supplies like coffee and cooking oil provided do you can easily self cater.

Really helpful friendly staff, picking own salad was good fun. Very comfortable beds and high quality bathrooms. Wildlife in gardens.
Excellent set up, stayed with 3 kids aged 8 to 14 who loved it. 15 minute walk to centre of Monteverde for restaurants although a decent Soda and pizzeria 5 minutes walk away.

The hosts were fabulous. Met us when we arrived and explained a few things.
Some will was undertaken whilst we were staying there which made the kitchen much more usable and the bathroom for storage.
Not quite big enough for a family of 5. Sleeping was well catered for but not enough room to sit inside for 5 people on the dining table or in the evening in the living room. However a stunning table outside which is covered so this can be used. We saw a sloth in the back garden and numerous birds...

We arrived very late at night due to a 4 hour delay on our flight. We were warmly greeted and shown to our lodge. It was clean and very comfortable just what we wanted after our very long day. The next morning the view from our balcony took our breath away, we were totally in the rainforest!! Overall Monte Real hotel got everything right. The room was comfortable with a balcony and view over garden and endless bird visitors. Our room overlooked the river. We had fireflys at night, chamelions in the day and real peace and quiet. There is everythng you could need pools fed by the river, trails through the grounds, kitchens barbeques all in good condition. Easy to get to on a good road and close enough to town.

We booked all 3 pods for a 1 night stay on the way back to the airport after touring Costa Rica and all were excellent, privately located with an outdoor kitchen, toilet, shower, balcony and jacuzzi. Although quite remote, they do offer a takeaway delivery service from a local restaurant, and the town is approx 15 minutes away. Important to note that the transparent pod is down a steep windy narrow path with lots of uneven steps, which is quite difficult to walk up and down and a real challenge...

It’s still a work in progress, so going here in the future will be even better. But for our stay, the bungalows (two story lodges) were brilliant!
