Very nice room with fireplace.

Pros: Nice sitting area with fire place.
Cons: The continental breakfast (free) could be more appetizing and the spa in working order.
Location: Close easy walk to fisherman's wharf and Cannery row.
We stayed in a junior suite. Room was large and comfortable. The spa was broke and looked like it had been down for quite some time. Great location and pleasant staff.We would stay there again.

Relaxing , quiet room

Pros: Rooms were spacious with all the amenities like a sofa, great t.v. and a very comfortable bed. Complementary breakfast was amazing.
Cons: perfect the way it is.
Location: I love to walk so I was able to walk to fisherman's whart, cannery row and downtown. Shopping center is close by too. Lot's of restaurant's!
I really enjoyed my two night stay. My room was so quiet but at night I could hear the sea otters which was so very relaxing. I also enjoyed walking to fisherman's wharf and cannery row which were very close to this hotel. I would definetly stay here again!

Good location, but overpriced

Typical three star hotel that is overpriced. Dirty glasses in my room. Shower drain was clogged

Pros: I like the fire pits and fountains in the courtyards
Cons: The hot tub is not hot. Rooms need updating. The parking fee is ridiculous. This is not San Fransisco.
The $20 per night parking fee is a bit much. The hotel rooms need updating. The complimentary breakfast is awful. I think they could do better.

Loved it, wish we would have stayed longer

Pros: Everything mentioned above.
Cons: The continental breakfast.
Location: The First Theater is right next door, and it was less than a 5 minute walk to the wharf.
We were a little concerned with other reviews, but our experience was fantastic. We visited in January, so it was in the 40's at night when we arrived, and immediately got the easy to use fireplace going, and it got so warm that we had to turn it off in the middle of the night, so no problems there. The bed, for us, was super comfortable, the room was spotless, the bathrooms very nicely remodeled and gorgeous. We requested a room more towards the center of the hotel, so we didn't have the road noise issue at all. My wife and I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was. I do agree that the breakfast should probably not even be served, I took one look at it and left.

Walking distance to wharf

I am local and I stay here with my dog when dangerous storm conditions threaten to topple trees on my property. It's a safe, comfortable place to escape the storm for a few days. it is walking distance to wharf and downtown Monterey.

staff are friendly but not empowered

Pros: the room
Cons: amenities; food is poor.
Location: great location. walking and trollie make this easy to access.
The room was great. But, then you start to find limitations. The room coffee maker could NOT be any smaller. Why not a hot water heater and coffee press instead? And, no regular coffee and creamer in the room. You tell the staff and they tell you they are not to normally stock creamer. The morning breakfast is far worse. Toasters do not work. Staff provides one pump coffee canister to serve all guests; this does not work. The food is sub-par; literally like bad cafeteria food. The the afternoon tea is merely coffee. Not even hot water for tea. I am a California native and have traveled the world many many times. This place actually makes me feel bad to see folks from other counties visit this place and they get the impression this is what the US/California is like.

the fireplace is nice for the cool night . it is a short walk to wharf, except we notice one person follow us right and left for 40 min in board daylight. we went back to hotel chat with hotel stuff that the area suppose to be very safe.
