The apartment had issues: The stove only had 1 of 4 burners that worked call for maintenance and the guy had no clue as to how to fix it and he never came back. There was a leak from under the wall to the next unit. The balcony was rusty and the doors were very worn and hard to close. Front desk service needs work, training or a means of ingo that connects with the online reservation portal. Expedia did not give me the owners name or apartment number when I booked. The property had to research an available unit for me. Only as air b & b’s. I picked this place because of the location and amenities, Ocean front with a stove and close to bars and restaurants. Unfortunately I was not able to check in at the location. This place is not a resort! No computer and no way to contact or locate your reservation. This information should be listed and noted by Expedia prior to my arrival,So I was stranded in Jamaica on my birthday, out of the country, with no where to stay. An Expedia representative did assist me, in finding a new location. I was so anxious I agreed to the first location. Which meant I didn’t get the stove, beach front, and location to certain restaurants that I had planned my trip around. Did I mention it was my birthday. Ok. I did contact sandcastle the day before to let them know my flight arrives at 5pm, so I wanted to know how to check in. He said, “as long as you’re here by 10pm, you should be fine.”I arrived around 9:40pm. And yes, the young lady at the desk left at 10pm. Which meant I had to go find somewhere else to stay. I ended up staying at Sago Palm, which was a really nice hotel. To this day, 1/28/25, I still haven’t heard anything from sandcastle 6 days after my check in date. I am doing everything in my power to remove this place as a resort location. This should be illegal, it’s definitely scam likely! I didn't realize untill the next day that it was a sliding door. The apartment is on the ground floor. Anyone could have opened the door and window and enter the apartment while i was asleep on Friday night. When I drove over to the new hotel I was then told that there’s no rooms available except for one night stay at another hotel. I booked for Two night stay at a decent location and after an extensive wait time to be checked in I was offer 1 night stay at a location which didn’t seems safe in my opinion. The security staff and gate staff were wonderful and personable. The unit we stayed in was awful (some are privately owned and rented, some are owned and rented by the resort. I don't know which one ours was). The kitchen was terrible, very little in the way of cookware and some of the dishes were cracked and broken. There were no glasses available , just plastic that had seen better days. Not even a sharp knife or pair of scissors available. The twin beds only had a sheet, I had to use one of our towels to cover my kids. This was extra annoying as we only got a couple of towels to begin with, which were never replaced because the room was never cleaned. We requested bath mats but they never came. However, in the morning when i opened the curtains, I realized we hadn’t gotten the ocean view room that we booked, instead, we had a view of the parking lot. I spoke with the young woman at the desk and was told she would have to contact the owner and let the owner know the situation and then call us back; she never called back and the owner never called. When we returned to the desk and asked again about our room (no one at the desk answered our calls), we were told the owner didn’t have any ocean view rooms available. I asked it another owner had an ocean view room and what could be done to remedy the situation; I was told there was nothing they could do. On the third day, we asked to have our room cleaned and the housekeeper (who was lovely) said she never received the message so the room wasn’t cleaned. The bottom line is: customer service was lacking, we didn’t get what we paid for and the cleanliness of the premises was less than desired so Expedia found another property for us. It was not the way we wanted to begin our stay in Jamaica.
