This is a first class boutique hotel in a the village of Montpazier, one of The Most Beautiful Villages in France. We had visited Montpazier ten years ago and made it our base for touring the Dordogne this year. Isabelle and staff were extremely friendly and made every aspect of our stay outstanding. And the food was excellent! Thanks to everyone on staff!

An absolute gem at Le Périgord area, the château is gorgeous, the owners & staff are delightful, a great "Escape to the Château" experience, location is great to explore the surrounding attractions, we will definitely go back! The restaurant is outstanding! Michelin star quality meals.

Isabel and her team are marvelous! I cannot recommend it more. This is the quintessential family owned and operated hotel and restaurant. The bastide town of Monpazier is like stepping back to the 14th century. It’s a beautiful time capsule of a place.

Quintessential beautiful French chateau style hotel in its own grounds with gardens and adjoining charming kidney shape private swimming pool with ample relaxers. White towels are provided by reception. Positioned a few minutes walk from the 13th C historical market square, Montpazier is one of the finest examples of a ‘ bastide’ created during the 100 years war by King Edward I. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The hotel is full of character, tastefully decorated and furnished. The bedrooms were on three floors via a spiral wooden staircase but no lift. However later I noticed there were bedrooms on the ground floor. We did have help with our luggage to our room on the third floor but be careful to watch your footing on the stairs as they are quite tight in turns. Our room was comfortably furnished with on-suite bathroom but not a separate shower which I would have preferred instead of crouching in the bath using a mixer attachment, there was no screen or curtain. I didn’t request a shower but I would if I stayed again. However the huge bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Plenty of storage and hanging space for clothes and seating with antique furnishings. Breakfast was continental style with a fabulous choice from 8am, my favourite was toasted brioche with fresh scrambled egg. We were unable to find an English news channel on our tv but that was resolved. Overall we would recommend this hotel.

This was an exclusive, tastefully decorated boutique hotel. Our hosts were warm and friendly and have paid great attention both creatively and practically to the design and ambience of the hotel. The charming village is just a stone's throw away.The hotel offers a range of spa massage and facials, this is the best body, head and reflexology treatment i have had in years. Highly recommended. romantic location, but not proper luxury
positive first: the location is great, the building is fancy and romantic looking, the valley around the village is great, the team are trying very hard to provide great service so no complaints there breakfast was really nice too a bit of negative: the actual room is pretty basic, the mattersses were the hardest i ever experienced in france ,and wifi speed felt like it wasnt updated since the hotel was built in the 18th century

Lovely friendly hotel
Very nice hotel within short walking distance of village centre. Lovely reception staff, extremely helpful. Small twin room, but comfortable, only downside was a light left on outside the window, could even see through shutters closed. No English Channels on tv.

The hotel was elegant, with good facilities. The food in the restaurant was excellent, and half board was a very good deal. The owners were lovely, really pleasant and helpful. Air conditioning was extremely quiet, which was a real bonus. Parking was easy behind the hotel, with just a couple of minutes stroll into the village. A particular bonus was 'Biere de la Bastide' which is a brewery in the village, selling lovely craft beers, with a chance to sample several! We would definitely return!

Great getaway hotel in beautiful location
We came for a weekend in the region and were very well looked after by the owners and their staff. Design was high spec and fitted with the local architecture. Food in the restaurant was great at breakfast and dinner. Would highly recommend!

Not often I give 10/10 and I never do it for the sake of it. This Hotel however was excellent with very pleasant and friendly owners and staff. Monpazier is a great village to visit and I would highly recommend this hotel for when you do. The food in their restaurant is truly excellent too. Bear in mind the restaurant is closed Wednesdays though, which is different to the usual Mondays in France.

This is a nice hotel in a lovely bastide town. The rooms are comfortable. The staff are very hospitable. However, the real reason to stay here is for the good in the hotel's Elonare restaurant. The menu is very interesting and the presentation and quality of food quite excellent.

We booked 20 mins prior to arrival and so glad we did. The hotel offered everything we wanted, peace, calm, super food, friendly efficient staff and owners. The relaxed atmosphere was infectious and the other guests were friendly and all appeared more than happy in the hotle. most were back for their second or third visit and I can see why.

Great place to stay as a treat if you are coming in or out of Bergerac. The town is a treat - don't think I've taken so many pix in such a small place. Lovely restaurants at the hotel and in town. Room slightly squashed even for one but still great!

Lovely old chateau in a medieval town and family run so a personal business.Well kept with a nice pool area and the rooms were well decorated and comfy beds.The new restaurant converted from an old barn next door was tastefully renovated & furnished and our only quibble and complaint were the portions of the nouvelle cuisine menu which although well cooked & beautifully presented were all the size of canapes.Naturally we were still hungry at 9.00pm.and with the pricing 'per plat' too expensive.

Our one-night stay in September could not have been better. The welcome was friendly and helpful; our quirky, interesting rooms had spectacular views across the countryside. A wonderful find
I thought twice about writing a review as this is such a gem I wanted to keep it a secret! We had not visited this region before and were exploring, so we only stayed a night. Monpazier is a delightful bastide town and the hotel is a couple of minutes walk to the centre. Their restaurant attached to the hotel serves fine dining with a short menu that changes every day, and their bistro is in the town, a very short walk, which serves excellent bistro type food and has a vibrant atmosphere. There is a lovely swimming pool in the grounds of the hotel, perfect on a hot day. The hosts were terrific and nothing was too much. We will definitely go back, and this time stay in one of the more modern rooms on the ground floor-although the room we had was more traditional and had a large and interesting bathroom!

A charming and friendly place to stay in Monpazier
We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and comfort of the Hotel Edward for an overnight stay. The hotel owners and staff could not have been more helpful and the building itself was beautifully restored. Breakfast was a delight and the evening meal delicious. The only negative was a TV that refused to access any satellite channels but otherwise we enjoyed a 5* experience.

My husband and I enjoyed an overnight stay at this delightful hotel in the most beautiful bastide of Monpazier in the Dordogne, France. The room was spacious and comfortable with all conveniences. We ate at the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious. The service was very good. Overall a very positive experience in a must see village in south western France.
