The hotel is within a walking distance from the bustling life at Mongkok. Even if you're not up for walking, there are frequent buses to the MTR stations and Nathan Road.
I booked a standard room to accommodate 3 persons and they set up an extra bed upon our arrival.
They signed me up for the hotel group's member card upon my check in, which is great especially if you intend to dine in the hotel as you'd get a discount and earn reward points.
The only thing that was not to my expectation is the complimentary smartphone. You'd have to pay a deposit of HKD2,000 during check-in (only upon your request for the phone). I wanted to use it as a portable WiFi hotspot so that I could use my own mobile phone but that function was disabled on the hotel's smartphone. I had used a similar complimentary smartphone at Dorsett Mongkok and was able to use the WiFi hotspot function. In the end, I used it for a day and decided to get the Discover Hong Kong SIM card @ HKD88 and free up the HKD2,000 for other purposes.
All in all, a pleasant stay. I'd recommend if you are able to get it at a reasonable rate.
The rooms were bigger than expected for Hong Kong. Bathroom was tiny though. Everything was clean but just a bit tired and old. The staff were fine, didn't have much to do with them. Breakfast was adequate, nothing to rave about. The hotel is in a rough looking area with a homeless area opposite that stunk of urine but it felt safe enough. Gym was fine but a bit basic. You do get free alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and snacks which is quite good. We were on the 16th floor (of 25) and could still hear traffic noise. Overall fine but would maybe try somewhere different next time. Thanks to the maid for always folding my pyjamas!!!!
Given past experience with other hotels in the general area, this by far is the best value for the money. Basically, everything that I needed were there and adequately provided. It met my expectations in comfort as well as space requirement as a traveler.
Shops, restaurants, and recreational pursuits define the character of Mong Kok. Numerous curbside food stalls, modern shopping plazas, and traditional markets are concentrated here. Mong Kok Flower Market, Yuen Po Street Bird Garden, the Goldfish Market, and Ladies Market are among the most popular. Try Fa Yuen Street for sports equipment and clothing.
