This was our second stay at the property. We received a warm welcome as usual and checked into our spacious family room. The hotel is clean but a little tired in places. We're happy to see that they are undertaking a refurbishment and look forward to seeing the results next year. The location is outstanding; a short walk from the beach and high street. Hotel was clean and welcoming. First impression in foyer is bright and modern. Room a little dated but personally I don’t care about that at all so long as it’s clean, which it was. I appreciated being able to open the window, a good shower with towels that actually fit around an adult, plenty tv channels and good supply of tea/coffee and biscuits. Sometimes thats just what you want when in a hotel for an evening! Staff were helpful and friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend.

From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we had nothing but friendly attentive service from the staff at the pub. We were fortunate to be upgraded from a room in the pub to one of the relatively new lodges. The lodge was immaculate on arrival and very comfortable and well equipped. We had breakfast included and this was first class with locally sourced food included. We had two evening dinners at the pub and both were excellent from the very varied menu on offer.

This is real gem, hidden away in the Devon countryside, at the end of long private driveway - with rather too many deep potholes, a danger to your car's tyres and suspension. Once you're there you get get a warm welcome - all of the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms are quite spacious. and the beds are very comfortable. Dining is a speciality, and though the portions may seem small to some, they are beautifully prepared and presented, preceded by tempting amuse-bouches served...

Thoroughly recommend. Lovely rural part of Devon, the hotel is set in its own well maintained grounds, which is excellent for dog walking, our room was clean and comfortable, as was the breakfast and dining area which were both well set out, with plenty of space to accommodate dogs. Food was great, varied and plentiful. All staff were polite, efficient, and attentive, which helped to create a pleasant and chilled atmosphere.

We stayed six nights and enjoyed it immensely. There is a real homely feeling to the hotel. There were a few niggles but you get them wherever you go. The staff were polite, friendly and most attentive. The bar and restaurant were more than satisfactory and the heated outdoor pool was a brilliant addition. We will definitely be going back especially since my partners friend is residing in Bideford now and we will happily reserve a room at Durant House Hotel whenever we visit.
