We booked this hotel because of its central location; it was a very good decision. Not only did we have great shopping and dinning around but, also, very easy access to the city sights. The hotel staff was very helpful in organizing visits to farther sights and, well, coming back to the hotel was like coming back home every day.
Read some of the bad reviews but this was where the company booked my wife and I. I was actually quite happy with the hotel and the room. Not a destination type hotel. Gym was lacking and the location is a bit of a walk to the train station which means taxis. But they are cheap if you don't mind Beijing traffic. Food at the hotel was not that great but there are some good restaurants a very short walk from the hotel. Overall a good value hotel
The hotel had a great location, but when I got my room, it was older and smell like smoke really bad. The bathroom and beds were also outdated
I didn't have much interaction with the staff. so I can't give much feedback about that.
"Functional Hotel in ChaoYang District of Beijing"
I stayed with a small group of students for four nights at the Radegast Hotel at the end of winter 2015. The rooms completely met our needs with good beds, a very nice bathroom, and a good Internet connection.
The buffet breakfast was one of the most complete I have seen. At the rear of the lobby is a pleasant and quiet bar.
This was our first visit to Beijing and we had a specific venue for our meeting a little, over a kilometer from the Radegast. We were able to walk back and forth between the two locations with no difficulty whatever.
There were a number of restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance of the Radegast Hotel. There were also two shopping malls: one high end, the other middle-of-the-road.
In short, the Radegast Hotel is a good option for a focused visit where you want a reliable "base" before and after the day's round.
This time I booked into an Executive Room. Actually the room was no different than the last one I had... perhaps even smaller… but the access to the Executive Floor was worth the upgrade. Breakfast, and drinks/dinner, where much more pleasant than the large restaurants on the ground floor where the food is mediocre and the service worse.
The embassy district offers a healthy nightlife and well-developed department store culture. Commerce, high finance, and international corporations are established here. The popular Sanlitun bar strip pulsates through the night and Chaoyang Park offers 320 hectares of recreational distractions by day. The World Trade Center, International Exhibition Center, and Agriculture Exhibition Center are also found here, and Jiuxianqiao electronics town is on the northwest fringe.
