"50th Birthday Vacation "
Beautiful and peaceful. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Only wish we would have know there's NO TV on the property, but we were able to rent movies from the general store and watch on our laptop. Everything was wonderful!

"Wonderful Hotel and staff"
Great hotel with very helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to help to ensure that every aspect of our holiday was brilliant. Warm welcome from the minute we arrived until we left. Lots of home comforts including a great buffet breakfast with hot and cold dishes, fruit and local produce. The staff were happy to provide a tray so we could eat in the lovely gardens. Beach chairs, umbrellas, cool boxes, ice and even suncream were all available free of charge and made road trips for picnics easy to do. Snorkels and boards for those who want them too. This is the difference between the big impersonal hotels and staying in a place where you can feel it is your home away from home. Great facilities; spotless pool, hot tub, roof terrace although we did not use these they are a great bonus. The grounds are breathtaking and were quiet and calm. Full size fridge for cold drinks and snacks. Welcome basket of coffee, popcorn , cereal bars and local water were very welcome on arrival and we made use of the 24 hour snacks in reception. We even got Valentine cookies for breakfast and there was free tea/ coffee in the afternoons. We were invited to stay and use all the facilites after checkout which is good for late departures. We were pleased to stay in a Hotel which has a positive attitude to all people and provided us not just a convenient base from which to see Maui but made us feel part of Maui for one magical week. We hope that one day we can return with our family.

Pocket Guide: Gay Friendly Hotels in Maui Island

Staying in Maui Island’s Gay-Friendly Hotels

Maui Island’s gay-friendly hotels provide upscale accommodation in some of the island’s picture-perfect locations. Stay in the tranquil gay-friendly Hana at the end of the iconic Road to Hana drive, or enjoy the golf courses and beaches in the luxury resort town of Wailea.

Enjoy tropical-themed guestrooms with plenty of modern comforts, from premium bedding to tea- and coffee-making facilities. And make the most of ocean views by watching the sunset from your own furnished lanai.

Most gay-friendly hotels on Maui have a packed programme of sporting activities and live entertainment, including bike tours and traditional Hawaiian shows. Or you could clock up laps in the pools or unwind with a beauty treatment at the onsite spa.

    LGBTQ+ in Maui

Maui has a substantial gay community and the island has welcomed the LGBTQ+ world for many years, legalizing same-sex marriage in 2013, ahead of many other US states. There is a steadily growing Pride organization with Maui Pride celebrated on the first weekend of every October.

The rest of the year, LGBT and Friends Hiking group get together regularly to explore Maui together and build the LGBTQ+ community. Join one of the group’s walks or swims to learn more about LGBTQ+ life on Maui.

One of Maui’s more exciting weekly parties is on Little Beach in Makena Beach State Park, famous as Maui’s gay and nudist beach, but on Sundays it comes alive with fire dancing and drum circles in a sunset celebration. Everyone is welcome and the mini carnival will take you into the heart of Maui culture.

    Whale Watching on Maui Island

Maui Island’s whale watching season runs through the winter, though it’s still possible to spot the creatures all year around. Find a spot on Kihei Beach to be in with a good chance of spotting some humpbacks. Just a 17-minute drive up the coast from Kihei, Maalaea Harbor is one of the best places to go for whale watching excursions out to sea.

Maui Island and its gay-friendly hotels welcome the LGBTQ+ community with open arms and promise you an unforgettable experience.
