    Staying in a Seaside Hotel

Enjoy the Maui sunshine in Seaside Hotel’s courtyard then cool off in the pool overlooking the ocean. You might prefer to enjoy a picnic in the shade of palm trees on the large lawn or have a cocktail in the bar.

Your two-star hotel room at Seaside is inspired by island life, with local art and plants adding to your welcome.

Where to Stay on Maui Island: Kahului

The busy town of Kahului is home to the Maui’s main harbour and international airport. It’s also a great place to go to experience the local culture, watch a show at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center or chat to locals at the weekly Maui Swap Meet, a busy market selling local crafts and food.

    History on Maui Island

Head to Wailuku’s Bailey House Museum to learn about the lives of missionaries on Maui. This former missionary home showcases 19th-century artefacts and artworks while a wander in the house’s garden takes you back to the missionary era with its native plants.

Just outside Kahului, the Alexander and Baldwin Sugar Museum displays documents, photos and artefacts that detail Maui Island’s sugar industry. Take your time to see all the former machinery and locomotives in the outdoor exhibits.

    Driving the Road to Hana

The Hana Highway is one of the most popular road trip routes on Maui Island. Take this drive down the island’s eastern coast to see some of Maui Island’s most remote coastline. There are plenty of spots to pull over and hike through the lush rainforest or explore secluded bays. Stop off at Waianapanapa State Park to see a black-sand beach and lava tubes.

Spend some time exploring Hana at the end of the drive. This undeveloped town has a vintage feel and is one of the best spots on Maui Island to experience traditional island life.
