What a lovely cozy little stay. Just perfect to allow us to get to an early hockey game the next morning! Just make sure to know that Googlemaps does not lead you to the right entrance. The actual driveway is 100 yards down the road. Thanks to Sarah for guiding us to the entrance! We can’t wait to come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Granary! It was adjacent to two beautiful lakes and hiking and swimming opportunities are abundant. Our two dogs enjoyed the stay as well and the scenery and wildlife around the Granary is amazing!
The location is beautiful, walked in the morning around the property, close to Skaneateles and family on Otisco lake. Sara was responsive, easy checkin with late arrival. Place was clean, airy, comfortable bed, quiet. Thank you once again!!
We go through every year on our way to Maine with dogs, and have always found the overnight both convenient and relaxing. The dogs appreciate the space and the opportunity to walk. And the property manager has always been helpful and accommodating. It's perfect for us.
This property is a great example of re-purposing. We stayed in the "Charming" room at the back of the barn facing the pond. Everything was fine as long as you're not expecting a modern hotel. The Wi-Fi worked great. I was impressed by the nicely finished wood floors. The host greeted us and check in was simple and easy. If you like rustic and patina, you'll enjoy your stay.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Pretty, but somewhat misleading and unclean
We sought a cabin to celebrate the night of our engagement. We specifically looked for a cabin to make sure we’d have our own space separate from other people in nature. Some of the photos led me to believe the cabin apartment was its own small unit, like a guest house. It is actually the bottom floor of a multi-unit converted barn. We heard the dogs upstairs barking all night. Perhaps more explicit language, like “charming barn first floor apartment,” would clarify. An addendum mentioning the short ceiling height may be nice as well, as my 6’5” fiance was regularly running into things.
And while I’m aware a cabin is meant to be rustic, meaning old plumbing and ants aren’t unusual, the shower water smelled strongly of dirt to the point we just skipped our showers. The sheets had a line of marker dots that gave us quite a scare when we checked for bedbugs. While a cabin doesn’t need to be as insulated as a proper house, it should ideally have drinkable water, which I did not trust of this listing.
The property is beautiful, the host was responsive, and the bed was comfy. But given the lack of privacy and safety concerns, I wish we had just booked a hotel.
My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary here, and we loved it. Our dog Kiki was very happy with the 150 acres to explore. We can't wait to go back and stay longer.
This is a difficult one to rate. There was a booking mix up for the actual unit we were supposed to stay in, and we didn’t find out until 24 hours before in a simple, unhelpful email. However, when I called and got Sara the property manager on the phone, she immediately solved our problem by offering us a different (larger) unit, even though it was a big inconvenience to her. We loved the unit we stayed in - it was comfortable, rustic, and peaceful. But we can’t accurately describe the unit we had originally booked.I just wanted to leave this review to highlight our appreciation for Sara’s quick thinking and flexibility, which literally saved our vacation.
I booked this property in March for a stay from June 28-30,2024. Three days prior to our stay the host messaged me that she had double booked and had to cancel. she assured me i would get a full refund. I have yet to get a refund. I messaged Sarah and got no response. I did contact VRBO directly and still no refund.
The property manager Sarah was very accommodating and easy to contact. There were a couple of hiccups she easily remedied them. The bed was comfy. It has the basics you need for a brief stay. Fridge, microwave, hot plate coffee pots. Just an FYI if you are tall The shower is very small, but works. My husband who is 6’8” had to stand bent over to fit. We had a good laugh. I am 5’8” and the shower head was at eye level. The outdoor area and trails were lovely for walks. I saw others swimming in the pond, that’s not my thing. There were a lot of cars in the parking area which made it difficult for us with a boat and large pick up truck but Sarah found us a satisfactory alternative. It was cobwebby and musty but it is a barn so that is to be expected. No spiders, snakes, mice or other bugs :)
