"This is a fantastic homestay location, and called "resort hotel in Thumboly" by some of the local auto drivers. I booked this on an impulse travel through hotels dot com website and fully enjoyed my stay.
The owner (Mr. George) and the manager Mr. Shibu were prompt with communication and helpful. Mr. Shibu spoke to the auto driver via my phone call and guided him correctly. Google maps does a solid job too.

Baywatch Resort is a GREAT place to stay with family. Very good home like facilities. Breakfast was awesome. Mr. Mathew was of great help anytime we requested. Our local auto driver Saji (recommend by mr.Mathew) was truely amazing and helped us for everything including shipping. I wish we could have stayed there for some more time.

Property is located on the prime location. It’s a calm and silent area. But the facilities provided like electric kettle and all are damaged. Bathroom door handles were damaged in some rooms.

There are pros and cons with this place.
Pros:
Pretty location, right on the water.
Very good breakfast selection.
Spacious room and bathroom.
Private terrace area.
Meals available throughout the day.
Charming and helpful restaurant staff.
Cons:
They took our luggage to the wrong room, but no one knew which room for about an hour.
The two ‘reception’ women were pretty, but pretty useless (very limited English).
None of the staff appeared to communicate with each other.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which area of Mararikulam is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For solo travellers seeking cheap hotels in Mararikulam, focusing on accommodations slightly inland from the main beach areas often yields the best value. While Mararikulam is generally a quiet and relaxed destination, venturing a little further from the immediate coastline can reveal more budget-friendly options.
The main Marari Beach area, while beautiful, tends to have resorts and guesthouses with higher price tags. Instead, look for homestays and smaller guesthouses in the villages just a short walk or cycle ride away from the beach. These areas offer a more local experience and often come with lower rates, great for solo adventurers looking to immerse themselves in the local culture without breaking the bank. Many offer delicious home-cooked meals at a fraction of restaurant prices.
Additionally, consider exploring options closer to the Mararikulam Junction railway station. While not directly on the beach, these areas provide excellent connectivity and can be a good base for solo travellers who plan to use public transport to explore the wider region.

When is the most affordable time to visit Mararikulam?
The most affordable time to visit Mararikulam is during the monsoon season, typically from June to September, or the shoulder season just before or after the peak tourist months. During these periods, accommodation prices and even some local activities see a significant drop.
For solo travellers, the monsoon season offers a unique, tranquil experience. While there might be occasional heavy showers, the lush green landscapes are breathtaking, and the fewer crowds mean a more authentic interaction with local life. Many guesthouses and smaller resorts offer attractive discounts, and you can often find better deals on local transportation and food.
Alternatively, the shoulder months of May and October also present good value. The weather starts to transition, meaning you might still catch some rain, but the intense heat of summer is subsiding, or the cool, dry weather is just beginning.
