I think the mattress was as old as the hotel!

Posted 06-Dec-2016
Lighting was less than poor which was frustrating. Just 2 low watt side lamps. Bed was shocking. Springs sticking into your side making it impossible to sleep. Could tell it was an old bed. Usually stay at the Ibis Budget hotel but thought for a change we would treat ourselves and stay here. Regretted it. I'd compare the room to a low budget b&b. Hotel itself was lovely. Shame they don't invest some money into making small improvements. MOST of the staff were nice. There was a french guy on reception who was lovely and really helpful, and the concierge was equally as nice to talk to too. Waitresses were pointless, breakfast was a shambles. Apparently it was busy but could have been organised much better. Breakfast wasn't worth the money. You'd get a nicer cooked breakfast at weatherspoons just down the road. Couldn't ask for a better location but not worth it. Next time I will be back to the cheaper, cleaner, comfier budget ibis hotel.

Stort hotel tæt på centrum

Posted 04-Dec-2016

Beautiful classical hotel building

Posted 03-Dec-2016
Pros: I love the location, the service, the old-fashioned architecture and the price.
Cons: More towels!
Location: Sorry - I was in Manchester to attend a funeral so I didn't have time to see the city.
I was upgraded to a double executive suite with bidet & spa bath in the bathroom. They were a bit mean with towels but I have no other complaints. The room was warm and comfortable; the £7 breakfast was lavish. Everyone was extremely friendly.

City centre Hotel

Posted 02-Dec-2016
Room was clean but I had the worse nights sleep on the bed. It was a very small 3/4 double that had a super hard mattress and that mean that I hardly slept. There was not enough room for the two of us and in the morning my legs were aching/hurting and I was uncomfortable all day.

When a customer books a non smoking room several weeks in advance, it is completely inappropriate to insist he/she to accept an smoking room because "we are full". That is not the customer's problem! He booked (and paid) several weeks in advance a room of specific characteristics. It is clear that the hotel had good days, but they seem to be gone. Rooms are deteriorated and not very clean. Most of the staff is nice.

Ideal city location

Posted 01-Dec-2016
Pros: It's location.
Cons: More reception staff, especially at busy times. No staff to be seen on checking out.
Location: Manchester city centre has so much to offer.
Extremely long queue/wait at reception only two staff on at peak time. Hotel tired and room shabby, in need of new bed. The location is ideal for a short city stopover. We only stayed one night and didn't eat at the hotel, would use again if only for location.

Ok hotel

Posted 30-Nov-2016
Pros: Big old Victorian hotel
Hotel was ok but room is in desperate need of decorating, the bed was not very comfortable, the room did not have a window this was ok for one night but more than that it could have been a bit claustrophobic

We just stayed one night, but it was lovely. Quiet, nice, cheap!
