To see the wilderness for which Louisville is known, head out to its many famous protected reserves. Two of the most significant of these in the local area are Jefferson Memorial Forest and E P Tom Sawyer State Park. Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest and Falls of the Ohio Wildlife Conservation Area are some of the other attractive places to explore.
On a fine day, pack a picnic and see one or two of the leafy public parks and gardens of Louisville. Two of the favorite local parks and gardens are Iroquois Park and the Louisville Waterfront Park. You may also want to take the kids to Cherokee Park and the lovely Skyview Park.
Louisville is a dream destination for lovers of art so while you are here, don’t miss the Speed Art Museum and the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft.
