The housekeeping staff was on strike at the hotel. The management did not bother informing us before hand. Rooms were not cleaned the second night and it was blamed on the strike. Marriott points were rewarded as compensation. While we understand this was out of their control, they could have taken preemptive steps to ensure a smoother stay for guests. Valet Parking is also overpriced at $50 and cafe below has extremely limited options. Overall stay was not worth the cost of more than $400 per night.

The staff were on strike and it was so incredibly noisy and bothersome. I paid $700 for this hotel and complained and was offered no compensation for my stay which is absurd. The strikers came into the hotel blowing their horns and chanting. Marriott is better than this. We were given no warning that this was going on and I bet that if I had known I would not have stayed at this location.

The property is fairly new, although there were a number of things that they did not advertise. For obvious reasons. It is right across the street from the new metro station. This brings a number of folks that loiter around the hotel area. It was not advertised that the front door has to open with a room key. Police were arresting a subject and my wife texted my "Please hurry, I do not feel safe". We were supposed to stay 2 nights, although decided to make it one. Expedia was great helping getting us a full refund. The Asst. General Manager only wanted to refund us 1/2 because we checked out after check-out time. I explained it was only because we had a full morning with our son and daughter-in-law, which is why we were there. It was not until I mentioned I would be filing a complaint with Bonvoy that she said, just a minute. When she came back, she said that being a Bonvoy member gives us an automatic late check out so she could give us a full refund. The member number was on my check-in form. Needless to say, we will never be returning.

the property is very nice and appears to have gone through a remodel sometime recently. The only issue with the Courtyard in Santa Monica is the parking charge at $50 a day. That could deter some from staying there. Having said that, the property is immaculately clean and the room was clean and upscale. Nice property overall.

Excellent hotel in a bad location
This was a great hotel. Excellent staff at front desk and parking. Very clean, comfortable beds, semi ocean view. The location was close to shopping, restaurants and the pier. However, there were many people living on the streets across from the hotel and down the street. I was uncomfortable walking around after dark.

This property is near the metro station and 5 - 8 mins walk to the beach. The hotel is clean, but it has limited dining. However, there are plenty of restaurants just 5 mins walk from it. During my stay, there was a strike going on by the housekeeping staff. This caused a lot of inconvenience as the striking workers were downstairs shouting slogans on loudspeakers from 7 AM to 10 PM. Additionally, the main entrance was locked by the hotel staff and the only way to enter was through the gate in front of valet parking. The hotel staff was very helpful and polite.

Protesters out front all day long
This hotel & several others in the area, are in a dispute with their employees. There were protesters outside the hotel from 7am-10pm every day! They banged on drums, made noises through these trumpet things & shouted through amplifiers. All day long!! Until 10pm. The hotel staff onsite was amazing & did everything they could, but we were awoken every morning at 7am to these protests right outside our window. Apparently these labor disputes have been going on since the summer with no resolution in sight. It made for an extremely unsettling & exhausting trip for my family. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel until they reach an agreement with their employees.

There was not enough closet space or drawer space. Our room was infested with hundreds of ants. While the bed faced the balcony, the TV was on the wall to the left of the bed, making it hard to view even when pulled out of the wall. We checked out on Tuesday morning, Nov. 21, and moved to another Marriott property which was wonderful. We want our money back for the 21st through the 28th.

Nice room . Only thing I didn't care for was the 52$ dollar parking fee. Do yourself a favor and park right behind the hotel for 10$ unless money is no object. Short walking distance to pier. Great location. Loved the fresh fruit and lemon water in the morning. The waterman's cafe is more like a small Starbucks.
