Limavady is a pretty market town in County Londonderry overlooked by stunning cliffs and part of Northern Ireland's famous Causeway Coastal Route. Situated in the Roe Valley just three miles from Lough Foyle, Limavady is the perfect place from which to discover the country's best scenery.

In Limavady you'll find all you need for a comfortable stay with an excellent range of shops and eateries selling and serving local produce, helping you unwind in between the many exciting outdoor activities that you'll want to take advantage of during your holiday in this incredible part of Northern Ireland, known for its geological landmarks.

Things to Do in and Around LimavadyThe cliffs of Binevenagh, one of Northern Ireland's eight areas of outstanding natural beauty, loom large over Limavady. You wouldn't want to miss a day out exploring the Binevenagh Mountain Walk, with panoramic views from the summit sometimes stretching as far as Scotland. A wide range of exciting activities is on offer here, including hang-gliding, fishing and bird watching.

Just one mile outside Limavadyis the Roe Valley Country Park, where you can enjoy lovely walks through mature woodland teeming with wildlife and wild flowers, and along the River Roe as it flows through magnificent gorges and channels on its way to Lough Foyle. Activities here include rock climbing, canoeing and orienteering. The park is also where you'll find the historic O'Cahan's Rock and Leap Of The Dog sculpture, celebrating a local legend from which the town of Limavady derives its name.

Another Limavady legend is Cushy Glen, the notorious 18th century highwayman who robbed and murdered travellers along Windyhill Road. You can now find him overlooking the Largantea Picnic Site, just outside the town. The Limavady Sculpture Trail includes this and many more of the area's myths and legends.

For a change of pace you could visit Roe Valley Arts and Culture Centre in Limavady town centre, a great venue to see some of the region's best theatre, live music and art exhibitions.

Eating and Shopping in LimavadyLimavady's Market Street boasts a number of independent fashion boutiques selling locally made clothes and accessories, and you'll also find shops here selling big-name brands. For a meal out Limavady caters for all tastes, from award-winning restaurants to small cafes selling home-grown produce. The town's wine bars, tea rooms and cosy pubs ensure you'll be spoilt for choice, while Limavady's artisan food outlets can give you a taste of Northern Ireland to take home with you.
