"This is a great place to stay, the room we booked was a family room and had a king size and two singles plus a sofa and table in the living area so lots of room. The bathroom had a bath and excellent separate shower.
The staff were really friendly and the pub itself busy with great food at attractive prices.
An excellent cooked breakfast was also included, all for just over £100. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely stay here again."

The room was clean and spacious the food was very good.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
This is a great place to chill out but you need to be mobile or have a car.
As we holiday in Port Isaac annually we knew the hotel and its location as we had dined there a number of times.
We were curious about the accommodation and this was a great place to do nothing and spoil ourselves.
We would not hesitate to return.

Beautiful views, warm welcome, exceptional service. Staff could not do enough for you providing helpful guidance on activities in the area. Cannot recommend enough, just a note on parking facilities they are a challenge.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in the old jail, so many of the original features with a modern feel. Breakfast was incredible, best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had and the continental selection was amazing.

The location is the best thing about this hotel. We had a sea-view room and it was simply amazing. The bathroom in a family room (which is pretty big) is super tiny. The bathroom is more like a "port-a-potty" size, that you see on airplanes or trains, to be honest. But I can understand that construction of a large bathroom is not feasible in that castle. Breakfast was very mediocre, for 15.50 GBP per person. Food presentation and taste was really mediocre. I would suggest that walk to the...

The hotel was comfortable and clean, the parking was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful and chatty they went out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
The on-site restaurant was lovely, the food was excellent.
Location was ideal, near to all the attractions. We found the local pub next door’s very friendly.

The best area to stay in Lanteglos is Fowey, a picturesque harbour town known for its sailing and scenic walks.
Fowey is the main hub for visitors to the Lanteglos area. It's a charming, hilly town built on the west bank of the River Fowey estuary, with narrow, winding streets leading down to the bustling waterfront. The main street, Fore Street, is lined with independent shops, art galleries, and restaurants. The town is easily explored on foot, though some of the hills can be steep.
Couples often find Fowey ideal for a peaceful and romantic getaway. You can enjoy boat trips on the river, explore the South West Coast Path for stunning views, or simply relax in one of the many pubs or cafes overlooking the harbour. The proximity to attractions like the Fowey Estuary and Readymoney Cove makes it a great base for exploring.
For those seeking a more rural and secluded experience, the villages directly across the estuary from Fowey, like Polruan, offer a quieter alternative. These villages are accessible by a short ferry ride from Fowey and provide a more traditional Cornish village feel, with charming cottages and excellent walking opportunities.
When is the best time to go to Lanteglos?
The best time to go to Lanteglos is during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to early October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
During these shoulder seasons, the weather is typically mild and sunny, ideal for exploring the Cornish coastline and countryside without the peak summer rush. You'll find that popular attractions are less busy, and it's easier to secure reservations at top restaurants or find quieter spots on popular beaches. It's superb for couples looking for a relaxed getaway or families travelling with younger children who aren't tied to school holiday dates.
The summer months of July and August offer the warmest weather and are best for families who want to enjoy the beaches and water sports. While it's the busiest time, Lanteglos and the surrounding areas are well-equipped for visitors, with plenty of activities and events geared towards families.
