"My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The view from the deck is beautiful and there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. We took full advantage of the outdoor amenities--lounging in the hammock on the deck, eating meals at the outdoor tables, and making s'mores around the fire (the solo stove is nice perk). The Shortoff Mountain trail is only a 10 minute walk from the house and provides spectacular views of Lake James and the Linville Gorge. The babbling creek on the property was another treat that we all enjoyed. We didn't get a chance to kayak or paddleboard, but the lake is a very short drive from the house and has nice trails for walking or biking.Brian and Katherine are by far the best hosts we've had out of all the properties we've stayed in over many years. They were very responsive every time I had a question, and it was clear that they cared about making sure we were comfortable and having a good time. We would be enthusiastic about staying here again."

"This is a nice little place to stay on the water at Lake James. We did have a few issues with the place. The bathroom fan worked sometimes, but mostly not. The sliding glass door to the kitchen is very hard to lock. This needs attention."
