Aspen Cabin sits within the Mt Peale Animal Sanctuary, ideal for the adventurer
Aspen Cabin is aptly named for the trees that surround it and Mt Peale. Aspen Cabin is part of the Mt Peale Animal Sanctuary for horses with ample open area for roaming deer along with a myriad of other wild and domestic creatures. Adventures abound for those looking to explore the nearby La Sal mountains, or the desert regions of Canyonlands National Park or nearby Moab's many features. It is a night sky here with the unobstructed star gazing in a profoundly quiet and peaceful place.
Participate in events at the lodge, which also sits on the property or send yourself off into landscapes for quiet hiking, biking or road trips. If you are a boater, the Colorado River has easy access. There are several people who live and work at the Sanctuary who would be more than glad to help you find just what you need for your perfect stay.

We had a great stay in Mary’s lovely cabin! Easy access to the beautiful La Sal mountains. The property is beautiful to walk around. We used the picnic table and porch when home. Mary gave us great tips of other places to go.
This property is the perfect location for any adventure on the LaSal mountains outside of Moab. The property is the perfect size and has all the necessities to make for a perfect stay. Add that onto the awesome owner Mary and you've got the recipe for an awesome stay in this area. We highly recommend this place!

This is place is absolutely beautiful and the hosts are so welcoming. The cabin is clean and has all the necessary amenities. We cannot wait to come back and highly recommend this place. The animals in the sanctuary made it hard to leave.
We really enjoyed our stay! The peaceful surroundings were very much appreciated after long days of exploring the nearby national parks. The sunrises were unforgettable, and seeing the northern lights was just spectacular! Enjoying bonfires at night and seeing the sanctuary animals added even more enjoyment. Mary was such an excellent host, thank you!!
We loved our stay here! It was very clean, had comfortable beds & linens, and had everything we needed for preparing meals. The location is a great base camp for exploring and hiking in the La Sal mountains. We were gifted a snowstorm while there which added to the magic of the place. Mary and her neighbor went above and beyond as they had to help dig & plow our car out when it was time to go.
This was the perfect end to our whirlwind roadtrip through Utah. Mary was amazing! She is a wealth of knowledge of the area. She had great suggestions of "gotta see" things to see and do on our all to short 3 day stay.
1st, we could not gave had a friendlier host. Mary feels like a new friend, has a lovely cabin ready for us, and is full of knowledge on the area. She had lots of things stocked in the kitchen, and good toilet paper. I missedmy own pets less, with the dogs, cats, and horses that I could love on. We loved our stay!
I booked the Aspen cabin because I wanted a base camp that was cool, quiet, and peaceful with a good view...a place to relax in between visits to Canyonlands and other surrounding areas for hiking, without all the traffic and crowds in Moab. The cabin is up near the La Sal mountains with a great view of Mount Peale. It is cooler than the valley, and very quiet...just the sound of birds, the occasional horse whinny, or bark of a dog. It is south of Moab, so you can access places such as the Needles district of Canyonlands easily. For Arches or other locations north of Moab, you'll need to inch through Moab to get there. The cabin itself was very spacious, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. A great stay!
