Love the location of this hotel - walking distance to beach and shops in downtown Bird Rock. The property appears to have been recently updated based on the finishes and smell of new paint. Unfortunately, the update missed the mark in terms of amenities. Beds were low, lumpy, and uncomfortable. Not enough pillows. No coffee in room, no full-length mirror, no pool towels (had to use bath towels). The layout was strange - with a desk cramped in the corner. Temp was hard to regulate on a very warm weekend as A/C is provided by a mini-split system on the wall in center of room. Balcony is a nice touch, but when sitting on the balcony, the height of the railing wall doesn't allow one to see over it - so not much to look at! Be cautious when selecting a 1st or 2nd floor room as the rooms have been updated with vinyl plank flooring - which made it very noisy when the upstairs guest was walking around overhead with heels on. Nice looking hotel with convenient location, but for the same price I would likely choose other options available in La Jolla Village.

The Room was very clean in my book. I was only there one night, so I didn't get to see the balcony. When I got there, the front desk upgraded me to a suite. That was nice. Just more room than I needed. Location-wise it was all good. Parking is tricky, but other than that, I couldn't ask for more.
