Find hotels in Kresna from £39

The best area to stay in Kresna is within the town centre itself, or in one of the guesthouses dotted along the Struma River just outside the main settlement.

The town centre of Kresna offers convenience and a local feel. It's where you'll find the main square, local shops, and traditional eateries. Kresna isn't large, so everything is easily accessible on foot. Staying here provides a good base for exploring the surrounding natural beauty while having amenities close at hand.

For couples or those seeking a tranquil escape, consider a guesthouse along the Struma River. These properties often feature river views and provide direct access to activities like rafting and fishing. The setting is naturally beautiful and offers a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the Kresna Gorge or the nearby Pirin National Park.

The best time to visit Kresna is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures that are ideal for outdoor activities without the intense heat of summer. Spring brings blooming nature and lush landscapes, superb for hiking and exploring the Kresna Gorge, while autumn provides beautiful foliage and a cooler, more settled climate.

For travellers interested in white-water rafting, late spring, particularly May and early June, is often considered the prime time. The snowmelt from the mountains ensures higher water levels in the Struma River, making for a more exciting rafting experience. This period also coincides with generally sunny days and comfortable temperatures for being on the water.

If you're planning a trip focused on wildlife observation, especially for birds of prey in the Kresna Gorge, both spring and autumn are excellent. Many migratory species pass through or breed in the area during these seasons, offering fantastic opportunities for birdwatching.
