Wet Samui
My stay was unfortunately very wet! Unknown to me there was a cyclone nearby meaning there was a lot of rain and very windy. This meant I was confined to my room a lot and some of the time without power. While this was not the hotels fault I was not informed by the hotel which I should have been. Also on checkin I was given one of the rooms away from the main reception/ pool area. This was because of the price of the room but I was unaware I would be staying in the annex and was not informed by the hotel where I have stayed many times before, again not their fault but they should have made this clearer on their website!

Needs to be renovated
There are 2 buildings for the hotel. For the standard rooms, its in the old building located across the street. This building and the standard rooms need a lot of renovations... there are parts falling from the ceiling outside and stains on the walls and ceiling in the rooms. Alors, there is a bad smell coming from the water(that is yellow) so we kept the bathroom door closed after the shower... Very unpleasent. Book a better hôtel... The pros : 2 great pools, near the beach and good restaurants and bars

Excellent Budget Accommodation
For 1,000 baht/night you're right at the lower end of accommodation offerings on Ko Samui so don't expect luxury. But this hotel is perfectly acceptable if all you're looking for is a reasonable and quiet hotel room with a comfortable bed, air conditioning and a shower that works. Added benefits are international news channels on the TV, a pleasant balcony, swimming pool and location which is literally a minute or two's walk from all Lamai has to offer. The lowest priced rooms are the other side of the road so you'll need to walk 3 minutes to the beach. You could easily pay twice the price and get very little extra for your money. Don't. however, bother with the hotel's breakfast. At 250 baht each it's extremely poor value for money. There are much better offerings elsewhere.

I really only stay here for short stays, the resort is ACROSS from the beach, the rooms are average, but the location is perfect and the staff is very helpful.

Give the standard rooms a miss.
Booked originally in a standard room. It was terrible. Leaking toilet, dripping air conditioner, basin tap couldn't be turned off properly. Linen was thin and holey. Changed after one night to a pool view room - what a difference. The bed was bigger and had good linen, the bathroom was much nicer, there were tea making facilities and we had a lovely big balcony on which we spent a lot of time. Would stay here again, but not in the standard room.

My friend and I arrived at this hotel and were surprised to find that it looked nothing like the photographs posted on this site. For example, unlike the bathrooms in the pictures, which have separate showers with bathtubs, our bathroom had no separate shower, just a drain in the floor and a curtain across the room. Similarly, there was no decorative bedding, simply plain white bedding (which had some stains). Some other reviews have noted that this place may be confused with another hotel one block away with a very similar name - perhaps the pictures are of that other hotel too. The glass wall in our first floor room did not make us feel especially safe. Because this was not what we had signed on for, we decided not to stay. If you are looking for a very basic hotel, this one is perfectly adequate - but we weren't looking for that.

Some of the reviews of this hotel have mentioned that there are two hotels one block apart with nearly the same name. One is a lot nicer than the other - this is not the nice one. More importantly, I think the pictures of the hotel listed on this website as the Grand Thai House (the less nice one, despite the name) are not of that hotel - at least they look NOTHING like the room we got. There was no separate bathtub, no flower petals strewn across the bathroom, no decorative bedding. The bathroom was clean but smelled of mold and mildew and the bedroom curtains did not provide a lot of privacy through the all-glass door (at ground level). We did not feel particularly safe in that room and had never intended to stay in a hotel with those type of amenities, so we decided to leave. If you're a college backpacker looking for a very basic hotel, this is fine, but it's not what we were looking for and not how it was advertised.

Decent hotel, near everything
The room I booked wasn't in the main building but across the street which isn't a problem at all. There were 2 pools but we didn't go to either because the ocean was so close and beautiful. There are about five 7/11's and about the same if not more family marts within a 2 minute walk. When I booked this hotel I actually booked it because it said that the room had a tub/shower combo (none of our other hotels had a tub so I was excited). The room only had a shower though. They also misread my booking and thought that I was suppose to check out a day earlier than I was suppose to (luckily I was in my room when they came by). I showed the man that came to the door my online booking confirmation and he did not make me go to the front desk to confirm it, which was nice. Our room was right near the hotel restaurant and it got kind of loud at night, but I was actually surprised as to how early it was quiet, probably only loud until about 11pm, then it was quiet. There were only 2 outlets to plug stuff into in the room, and one had the TV plugged into it and the other had the mini-fridge plugged into it, but it didn't really bother us too much, we aren't there to stay trapped in our room. They gave us hotel room towels and pool/beach towels which was nice as well, and two free bottles of water a day.

Ideal location
I recently stayed here for 9 days, staff very helpful and friendly, local to beach and the main town within minutes walking distance, but still quiet enough to be out of the hustle and bustle of it all! Would stay here again!

Great location, but if you are in an economy room then you are across from the beach and there is no actual beach for this hotel. It was quiet, but it doesn't have any real beach access and it is overpriced.

Rusty hotel & this is not on the beach
This hotel is NOT on the beach. Fact, the standard room is way far across the street. The room is rusty, the door is horrible_noisy_rusty that it takes so much energy and times to lock ir open it. Oh btw, the air conditioning is just like a 50 years old tractor machine sound. Please do not stay at this hotel.

Fantastic clean room, right near the beach
We had a superior room with breakfast included, our room was located in the building across the road from the beach which was fine by us. Both pools were lovely and we spent a few days at ours. Rooms super clean, 2 bottles of water given free per day! Location is great, no noise at bedtime but on the main Lamai road for everything you need. Would definatly come here again!

Only stayed at the hotel for one night while I waited for my first choice to become available. Hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Room could do with some updating. Breakfast was very good and had no complaints. Pool are is small but in good order. Overall I think other hotels offer better value for money.

Great location, great hotel
The Grand Thai House resort was in the perfect location in Lamai Beach area. You were right in the heart of things, great bars, places to eat and only a minute from the beach, and if the beach isnt your thing, you could also sit by the pool. The staff were really friendly and helpful and I am already planning my return trip.

The air conditioner was dripping with water at night after my first day of stay and I informed the hotel staff members and it was rectified withing an hour. The water stopped dripping thereafter. Good work from the hotel.

The picture is deceiving
The room is run down.Not to mention the toilet and shower area. The bath tub that is also a standing shower area is not cleaned. I have to wash the dead bodies of centipede and insects before I can tale my shower. For the price I'm paying, I'm not impressed because I had stayed in better ones at a cheaper rate in Samui.

It was a nice place to stay right in lamai with good beach access, but if you are looking to hang out at the beach I suggest you stick to chaweng. Much nicer. Rooms are nice and big here and the pool is nice too.

Everything was nice except the part where they don't change the bed sheets every day. So if you turn off the aircon and wake up sweating in a wet bed you will have to wait a few days before they change the sheets. The bathroom design is weird, water spills on the floor and moves in the opposite direction of the overflow pipe. Overall - enjoyable stay.

Good all rounder in Lamai
Stayed here 2 nights as part of a holiday in Thailand. Note there seem to be about 3 properties that go under the thai house lisitng- I think- the thai house and grand thai house and beachfront detached bungalows. I think there is only 1 combined listing on trip advisor- so if there are variable reviews perhaps it depends where people stayed. The thai house is described as more basic accommodation, and the grand thai house, as you’d expect, the higher standard accommodation. I stayed at the grand thai house which offers hotel accommodation with a pool. On the plus side; • The room had a colourful, homely feel to it • Chose a pool view room which resulted in us getting a top floor room- great as had nice views and could just see the sea • The grounds and view are of palm trees • Very nice pool- level and very clean • Good balcony The only negative point is that the shower seemed to leak a lot of water over the bathroom floor. Overall though, it’s a couple of mins walk to lamai beach, and a good place to stay on Samui.

This is a very average hotel. Good if you have kids as you are not stressing over the kids breaking any thing. Beach is a very short walk and shopping is at your door step. No room service and restaurant is over the road. Drinks on the dear side and not very good English speaking. But very polite and friendly people. Breakfast was good. Small pool.

Hotel Grand Thai House Resort
We were staying here for 5 days during a 3 day long tropical strom! Not so great in the beginning but the hotel was nice with good staff, nice location and a nice pool. The hotel was calm with mostly russians clientel. Breakfast was'nt great but it was food! There was a strange system for claiming a sunbed, get up early; before the russians, put a towel on the sunbed go back to bed and return to your sunbed after breakfast and then start taning:) The hotel is located a little bit away from the "main road", and the walk down to the beach is not long at all. The beach did'nt look good with a lot of trash laying around on when we were here probably because of the strom. I general Koh samui is a nice place with alot of activities to do except shopping at malls or similar places. If you want a hotel without spending to much money, then I really recomend this place. Everything worked pretty good.

Fint hotell, fina rum och bra pool. Balkong med skugga från tak och träd vilket jag uppskattar. Trevlig personal. Det är lite nerslitigt men också lågt pris, så prisvärt. Jag har varit där tiigare och kommer att välja det nästa gång också. Centralt och nära stranden.
