Pocket Guide: Key West Key West Aquarium Hotels

Where to Stay near Key West Aquarium

Find a hotel in the charming city of Key West and make Key West Aquarium one of your stops on a trip to the island. The aquarium borders Mallory Square, a popular area near several hotels, so a search of the streets around the aquarium will turn up lavish cottages, immaculate resorts and homely inns.

Travel only slightly further afield to the neatly organised streets in the centre of the island and you could save money on rooms in motels, guest houses and budget-friendly hotels. Key West is packed with accommodation, so you can easily find somewhere that suits your needs.

Visit the Key West Aquarium

Take your family to Key West’s bright and colourful aquarium and enjoy close-up encounters with shoals of fish, stingrays and jellyfish. If you’re feeling brave, head to the alligator exhibit to see the reptiles basking in the warmth by the water. The Atlantic Shores tank showcases some of the creatures that live in the mangrove swamps and clear seas around Florida Keys.

Visit the Sea Turtle Conservation exhibit to see loggerheads and hawksbills being nursed back to health, before they’re released into the wild. A tour of this part of the aquarium includes information on how to help protect these beautiful creatures.

Interactive Experiences at the Key West Aquarium

You don’t just look at the water-dwelling species in this aquarium, you can touch them, too. The Key West Aquarium encourages you to interact with the animals and learn about them as you go. Attend a shark feeding session, where one of the aquarium staff will offer facts and stories about the animals, then reach in to the tank to feel the skin of a shark’s tail. At the aquarium’s touch tank, you can discover the unique textures of starfish, sea cucumbers and horseshoe crabs.

The Key West Aquarium is one of the most fun and family-friendly attractions in the city. Stay nearby and spend hours exploring its fascinating exhibits.
