"Great stay at a clean and smart hotel."

"Speedy check-in. Check in first before you pay to park & as long as they take your email it is free. Comfy beds, clean room, decent toilet rolls, dove body wash & a great cooked breakfast. WiFi a bit sketchy & carpet in corridors has seen better days. That said didn’t put us of at all, would recommend & would definitely stay again."

"Nice clean rooms . Perfect location for the town centre and castle venue . We went to a concert. Downside . No climate control rooms were hot so windows open .. traffic and public noise. Nice balconies. No actual hotel facilities as it is an annex of the George hotel across the street. "

"Comfortable spacious rooms with large double bed. Everything for an overnight stay, coffee on the terrace, good evening meal in the restaurant and a lovely pre-breakfast swim in quite a large swimming pool with sauna and jacuzzi available. Overall an enjoyable and restful stay with friendly staff.."

"Great location for our East Anglia base. Service was excellent and the staff very helpful. We stayed in the new wing which is spotless albeit spartan. Would be nice to have a micro and fridge. I didn’t play golf but think the management could put some investment towards course improvements. Someone told me there’s a focus on wedding bookings. I would say that marketing as a golf resort would compliment the wedding business nicely. In order to do this you have to have a really nice course and avoid negative reviews for golf."

"I am a regular guest of the Holiday Inn, Abbots Lane, Colchester and have always found the hotel both inviting and comfortable. The staff are excellent and always friendly and helpful. I’ve dined in the restaurant on many occasions and the meals have all been excellent with a wide variety of menu choices. I would highly recommend a stay here! "
