"Lovely location. Keep in mind it's a service station hotel and there is no official restaurant. Just ensure your expectations are in line with what you're booking. Room was decent and clean, if a bit tired. House Martin nesting holes near the windows were a nice touch and good to watch. View was great."

"Very Scottish decor’ for some reason. Staff were over worked and doing multiple jobs as best as they could and as quickly as they good. Tending bar, taking orders, waiting on tables - just one person! They really struggled at breakfast with a coach party all coming down to eat at the same time and only two waitresses and one chef to handle everything. I could see how frustrated the staff and the customers were getting with the whole situation. The room was clean and tidy with good tea and coffee amenities. TV was working well. Bathroom looked recently refurbished. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I really liked their “free drink instead of housekeeping” option, which I absolutely decided to go for. Hotel is conveniently located to train station and a short walk into Kendal town centre. "

"A fab stay at the hare and hounds. What a fabulous friendly pub with great helpful staff. Food was fantastic. Our room was spacious, clean and had beautiful views. We will definitely be back and couldn't recommend more to anyone wanting a base to stay for great walks and villages surrounding."

"Overall very good experience - the hotel, the rooms, cleanliness, staff, value for money, check in, check out, standard of rooms and facilities - All excellent. Except that there is cow dung smell when you open windows because of the farms and animals in the nearby houses, sheds etc. I understand its not related to hotel, but just rural locality. So i would still rate the hotel and stay as excellent."
