On the surface, the Marriott Karachi seems like a great hotel. However, upon closer scrutiny, there are several issues with this hotel. I had called ahead to request airport shuttle pick up. However, at the airport, I was told by a Marriott representative who ran the shuttle, that reservations had canceled my request for pick up without any explanation.
At the hotel, there were several major issues. While the room was clean, the towels were extremely rough -- almost unusable. Two, I requested laundry service but no one was sent to collect clothes from my room. Three, the quality of food at the Nadia cafe for the breakfast buffet leaves much to be desired.
Finally, and most significantly, I had explicitly told the front desk when I was checking in that I would be paying the bill in cash. They still used my credit card for a hold, and told me that the hold would be lifted when I was checking out. On the day of checking out, I went to reception to ask for my bill so that I could bring the cash to make the payment. When I arrived with the cash, the reception desk told me that my credit card had already been charged. They then said that a refund had been issued and that there would be no issues. So, I went ahead and paid in cash. It has now been almost 3 weeks and the charge is still on my credit card. I have paid for the hotel stay twice! The hotel needs to be upgraded for better maintenance and needs a more competent staff.
