"Friendly staff, offered a choice of a ground floor non air con room or upstairs with air con. And the breakfast room was kindly opened early on the weekend. I'll stay here again."

"Great location but sub standard service and the rooms are small and loud.
Stayed here for one night and got billed twice (not sure if Hotels issue or with them). As I was checking out early they’d offered a breakfast bag which I said yes to, but when I showed up the next morning the person in reception had no idea and couldn’t find any.
Stayed in a Standard room which was small and every sound from the room next door could be heard through the walls. Not planning to stay here again"

The hotel is in an excellent location just minutes from the Old Town. We couldn’t have received a warmer welcome, all staff extremely friendly and helpful, room was perfect.

Visiting Kosice in January can be scenic but cold and this hotel has fantastic wellness & spa facilities. We spent there two nights semi-privately enjoying the steam room, sauna & Jacuzzi. On top this hotel provides massage therapy of different kinds & mud wraps. It's very relaxing. The stuff is extremely caring & helpful. To our surprise they packed snacks to supply our missed breakfast as we were leaving very early morning @ 3:45 a.m. That's a first!

Look no further one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Clean, extremely helpful, gorgeous refurbished rooms and close to just about everything. Absolute gem.

It was a short stopover but the hotel was about 5 minutes walk from the train station. There are no lifts in the hotel and reception is on the first floor. Rooms are great, clean and comfortable! Reception staff are very helpful and take you to your room and show you everything you need to know. Breakfast is on the ground floor and has a small range of food but is very good!

Don't let the looks deceive you. This is a good hotel. They even managed my laundry free (I was willing to pay) and did nice extras (set up AC, gave me a mug to take home in the end). I'll likely go there again if I visit Kosice.

Beautiful and spacious apartment right in the heart of Kosice. Very clean and well kept. We were in town for a wedding and found the apartment to be very practical with large mirrors for getting ready and a well equipped kitchen. It is located in a safe residential area and parking is freely available. The host messaged us before our arrival with instructions on accessing the property and was readily available via Whatsapp. Thanks for a lovely stay!

The best area to stay in Kalša is around the village centre, particularly near the main road, Hlavná ulica.
This area is the heart of Kalša, offering easy access to the village's limited amenities. Hlavná ulica is where you'll find the local church, a few small shops, and the village's only pub. The surrounding streets are mostly residential, characterised by traditional Slovakian houses with gardens. It's a quiet, friendly area that provides a glimpse into local life.
For families, staying in this central part of Kalša is practical. The village itself is small and peaceful, making it easy to navigate with children. There's open space for them to play and the low traffic ensures a relaxed environment. You're also close to the main road for day trips to Košice or the nearby Zemplínska Šírava lake, which offers recreational activities.
Couples looking for a peaceful escape will also appreciate the village centre. It's an ideal base for enjoying the quiet countryside, taking walks, and experiencing authentic Slovakian village life away from city noise.
When is the best time to go to Kalša?
The best time to visit Kalša is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is most pleasant for exploring.
During these months, you'll experience mild temperatures, fewer crowds than the peak summer season, and generally sunny skies. This makes it ideal for enjoying outdoor activities like hiking in the surrounding hills or visiting the local vineyards without the intense heat of July and August.
Couples looking for a romantic and tranquil getaway will particularly appreciate these periods. The landscape is at its most beautiful, with spring blossoms or autumn foliage providing a picturesque backdrop for strolls through the village and its countryside. Many local eateries and wineries are fully operational, offering a relaxed environment to sample regional specialities.
Families travelling with children might also find these times more comfortable, as the milder weather is better suited for outdoor excursions and prevents overheating during sightseeing.
