So, I stayed at the Harbour grand Kowloon for 3 nights! It was amazing. The staff were really nice and informative! (Especially in the club lounge) the breakfast was very accommodating and they also provided afternoon tea and evening refreshments during my stay! The pool was on the rooftop, beautiful veiw of Victoria harbour. (There's a duckling boat you could check out. Takes you around Victoria harbour! $230 HKD) uhm, there was also a shuttle bus that was very helpful! It's called "K1" and it takes you around for free. (Kowloon station was my main trip) And yeah, this hotel was totally worth it! I was travelling alone and everyone was awesome! CHECK IT OUT.
I've been staying at this hotel for years, as it is conveniently located above the Hung Hom train station--with easy access to TST/East TST by foot, MTR, KCR, bus lines, etc.
But this time I had a few glitches in my stay.
We stay in Hong Kong on business, so didn't spend much time at the hotel, the staff were pleasant and very helpful. The only time I was annoyed is when the girl behind the desk would not exchange some money for me, stating that it was not new enough? my money was perfectly fine. and she changed in the end. It is not an area to stay if you like the hassle and bustle but it is nice quite place most suitable for families, took a walk in the area not much to see or do but good to see how the local people live. taxis was 270 HKD to the hotel and 250 to the airport, The night market and ladies market are place to visit for a bargain or two taxis about 30 HKD but you could catch the 11K bus if you have time on your hands.
Two stays while in HK: 3/2-3/7 in room 1551, 3/10 - 3/17 in room 901. We got free upgrade to harbour view rooms, probably because the hotel is relatively new and it was low season. The suites are basically 2 bedrooms apartments w/ a dining area for 4-6, living space, a kitchenette (no utensil though), full size refrigerator AND washer/dryer. All windows faced the harbor, which was fun for our young kids.
The beds were comfortable and clean. Housekeeping staff were friendly and kept things tiny on a daily basis, also left 3 bottles of water every day.
- There is a club house with playroom meant for toddlers and young kids. But at one night, there was a bunch of older (8-10 yrs) kids there running and chasing crazy, and the staff was not doing anything to stop them. It made the place unsafe for mine (2 and 4) to stay.
- The restaurant space is just open. Somewhat pricey for for HK standard, but it is convenient. Our stay included continental breakfast. When I went to get a paper cup for coffee, the manager asked so many questions that it was almost insulting.
- Some guests were obviously smoking in their rooms, and we could smell them in the hallway.
The hotel is literally by the harbor, good for morning runs. It is NOT close to MTR or any shops/restaurants (though they offer shuttle service). We relied pretty much on taxi throughout our stay. Overall, we are happy with our stay. Recommend for longer stay, or family w/ kid
I stayed for a total of 3 nights alone. The room had two single beds, however it was very small. The gap between the two beds was so narrow you had to walk sideways to get through. If I was staying with another person in the room, I would've had to put my luggage in the bathroom.
That being said, the bathroom was great! It was about half the size of the actual room itself. As a fairly swole individual, it was most pleasing to be able to do my business on the toilet without being cramped up and also to have a shower that doesn't involve some part of body touching the cold, wet wall.
The hotel very conveniently located, in the funeral district. It's pretty much across the road from the MTR station and the A22 bus to the airport is only about a 10 minute leisurely stroll away.
The facilities are simple but sufficient. The staff is pleasant. Location is excellent with a three minutes walk to bus stop that takes you to the airport and many other places. There are a lot of restaurants around the area.
If you're looking for a place with bed, bathroom facilities, free wifi, and near public transportation I would recommend. I was travelling alone and just needed something simple for 4 nights. Though small and tight, this was perfect for a single person. Would not recommend for group rooming. Everything is clean and the staff is very accompdating. Just a short walk to the Hung Hom train station. My only complaint would be the bed was hard for my liking but obviously that's due to my personal preference.
Largely residential, Hung Horn is also renowned as a food district. The Whampoa complex of shopping, entertainment, and more than 10,000 apartments is also home to Whampoa Gourmet Place, with more than 4,500 square meters (48,422 square feet) of speciality restaurants under the one roof. Discover high quality, affordable, and uniquely Hong Kong dining in the style of decades past.
