It is - indeed - on its own grounds at a stunning location outside Lucerne - but it definitely is NOT "large and luxurious". My room was small and old-fashioned furnished. No TV, no mirror and to go to the bathroom one has to walk through the breakfast room first. Access to the house is a very dark slippery gravel street. We were supposed to stay another night in Zurich, but decided to head down to luzerne instead. Staying at the Lake Lotus Villa was the best decision we ever made. The property was excellent, providing a private but friendly atmosphere, and allowed us to meet other great guests. Being on the crystal clear lake with boats and kayaks was an added bonus. The hosts and house manager were even better, and provided the best service we could have asked for. We had some bad luck ... their stove was making a loud noise that they couldn't stop. This made them very anxious I think. We were a bit surprised there was no tv in the room. I never was able to connect to their internet for any length of time and my wife was able to connect but it kept going out and when it was connected it was super slow. The bed was a futon so be prepared for that level of comfort for sleeping. They also published a book of rules that was off-putting ... "silence after 10pm" ... really? silence? Do you have to leave if you snore? It just wasn't what we expected and we didn't feel good staying there so we left right away in the morning.
