"On the positive: The reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. Rooms were clean. Location was excellent. Negative: bedding could do with an upgrade; sheets were rough, pillows were lumpy, beds (2x singles) were hard. Duvet was old and stiff and too narrow for the bed. Rooms are small! TV is tiny! Breakfast was adequate."

"Great location although room noisy on Saturday night as window overlooked passage outside. Lovely big room with sofa. Nice to have a bath, room and bathroom clean. Staff excellent in reception and the breakfast room. Breakfast freshly cooked with good choice. We have visited this hotel several times and will be coming back. Thank you."

"Useful location with plenty of parking and easy access to main roads. Rooms are a little basic but clean and comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good value. Would happily recommend friends and visit again."

"Great position on Bailgate, close to castle and cathedral. Room had great modern ensuite but maintained the ancient feel in the bedroom, works well. Road was quiet soon after closing time, had a good Saturday night sleep. Excellent breakfast, quality ingredients! Really recommend if you like the old fashioned style!"

"Staff friendly Parking good Firm beds Aircon poor, only goes down to 18 degrees and frequently stops; as someone with a disability affected by heat this was unfortunate. TV says Netflix and YouTube but you can’t connect to sign in Vomit sprayed up wall by front door was gross Ideal for swift stay, pub next door is awful so plan ahead or use the restaurant, we didn’t use the restaurant, bar or breakfast so I can’t comment there"
