"The interior is spacious and comfortable. Although there isn’t a full stove, there’s plenty of other appliances (dual hot plate, large air fryer, etc) to be able to make meals. The bed was comfortable, but it would be nice if the drapes were room darkening - we clipped them together so that helped so that we could sleep in a bit. The location is a bit remote, but close enough to the grocery store, etc & very convenient to the volcano park. Daytime is very peaceful, but we’d suggest brining ear plugs for sleeping - there’s an invasive species of frog that come to life at night, and can be a bit noisy! The hosts provide a lot of extras that you can borrow for beach days, and made our stay great overall!"

"My family and I were looking for a place to spend the night between Hilo and Volcano National Park. We loved the unique setting this home offered. There was plenty of space for everyone and Jenny was very easy to communicate with. We loved the viewing loft with a telescope but unfortunately it was a very rainy stay and we weren't able to star-gaze.If you're looking for a home feel off the main tourist areas we highly recommend reaching out to Jenny."

"Think of it as luxury camping and you'll be happy. If your idea of comfort is umbrella drinks by the pool, you will not. Personally, I loved it. But it's not for everyone. This is a rustic cabin in the jungle. 4.5 miles off the main road, 2.2 miles of it is dirt (well maintained, regular cars not a problem). 15 minute drive to nearest civilization (the part of the description being in the middle of a historic town is inaccurate - it's 7 miles outside a historic town). There are 4 walls, roof (corrugated plastic), lockable door, comfortable bed, private bathroom with hot water. Cleanliness on the level of a well-kept public campground. WIFI and cell service. Electricity to keep your devices charged. Being what it is, the room gets hot when it's sunny. Chilly at night (they thoughtfully provide 2 blankets on the bed, which during the day make no sense - at night they do). When it rains the roof is LOUD. Every night the coqui frogs are LOUD, and they go all night. You are immersed in nature, but sheltered from it better than in a tent. If this excites you, you'll love it. If it doesn't, this is not for you. The value for the money is exceptional - some bare camp sites charge more. Highly recommended for those who enjoy camping and want authentic big island experience with better-than-tent comfort."

"Overall beautiful property. However there was no available closet space and the rooms were rather small with our luggage in the way. We do notice juvenile cockroaches within the bathroom and kitchen spaces."

"If you don’t mind living off grid. Then this would be a good fit for you. It’s way way out in the jungle so it’s not as convenient as some people may like. You are in nature, which is wonderful. It is definitely not a 4G network. It’s T-Mobile and the Internet is sporadic."

"A lot of love and care has gone into creating this secret garden paradise. It was beautiful during the day but it is at night that the magic happens. Solar lights come on and the forest comes alive with frog chorus -It took relaxation to the next level."
