Houseboats in Hertsmere District

"My family stayed for four nights in July 2025 (parents, two teen boys) and we really liked the bunkbeds and layout and uniqueness of staying on a houseboat. It's in a gated boat community where lots of people live full time on their boats. It's about an 8 minute walk to Canary Wharf, which is convenient, but it is a bit farther away from a lot of tourist spots and closer to the financial district which is a different vibe. "perfect location, lots going on but at the same time quite quiet, i guess in high season this would be different. Kaia and Bruce perfect hosted. Just a couple of suggestions, a hook on bathroom door and shelves above toilet to put towels and clothes etc on. Maybe a small drop down table in the bedroom. "

"Loved our barge near the Tower Bridge! Two bedrooms and a couch worked for us perfectly. The Kitchen and living room area was spacious. It was easy to find restaurants and shops the marina! Would definitely stay again! "

"Taggs Island is such an interesting little enclave close to London and unbeknownst to us before. Set in a small inlet off the Thames, the house is one of a group facing onto the water. Linda, the host, has very much personalised it and provides every comfort. Although an expensive add-on, highly recommend the hot tub, which is deep and relaxing. Only down-side to the situation and rather shattering the peace, is being on the Heathrow flightpath, which we hadn't thought about!"

"Something a little different for an event I attended at the Excel and it was perfect. A few stops from the venue and the boat itself if is 'as new' condition"

"This is a fun place to stay in so much as my room had a massive outside area, the bed was great and I could look out over the water to watch the fun of Canary Wharf Its very very basic. I had no shower gel etc in the shower, the toilet is a marine toilet, no water offered (or available) so needed me to visit a local shop. Its near all the bars so quite noisy. I'd stay there again but not for that price. Its too expensive for what it is. "

"Easily the best place I have ever stayed. Lovely location, so relaxing and quiet. Host was extremely accomodating and easy to communicate with. Wish I could have stayed longer, and will be back at next available opportunity. 5+stars!"
