The hotel and owners are fantastic in small town with proximity to Yosemite. I didn’t get a chance to eat at the restaurant but I was told by another restaurant owner that it is good. We stayed one night and left in the morning. We were surprised with coffee and muffins offered as part of our stay. The hotel is historic and it is an experience

Lovely hotel right in the heart of Groveland. Walkable to several great restaurants, very nice staff, comfy bed. Would definitely stay there again.

Quaint hotel, didn’t disappoint. Claw foot tub-showers, nice muffins, fruit, coffee and other beverages in AM. Very small town. Finn is very informative.

After a few days in Yosemite hotel, Charlotte was a good stop. On our way out. We were warmly welcomed. Our room was perfect and the food in the tavern was excellent. We would recommend to others. Wish we’d had more time to explore Groveland.

The owner is so friendly and provides tea, coffee, muffins/donuts, and fruit to guests. The accommodations are quaint but it’s a great property!

This hotel was charming and quaint. It was everything I was hoping for. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would plan a trip to the area just to stay in this hotel again!

Very cute hotel and lovely staff. I was in room 15 which had a jacuzzi tub. Jets weren’t working but I had a nice soak. As the room description mentions, the room is not good for light sleepers and you can hear evening foot traffic and conversation but it quiets down as the evening wears on. What was harder to sleep through was the dryer next door that seemed to be set on “fluff” so it kept kicking on all through the night.

The Hotel Charlotte in Groveland is the perfect place to spend a nice, quiet, and safe evening. There is a splendid grocery store nearby, the staff is friendly, there is hot coffee available 24/7, the rooms are quaint and cozy, and the bed feels like home. I have stayed here several times, and always have a pleasant experience!

Hello Heidi! Thank you for the feedback. My name is Finn, I'm the owner. I'm sorry you didn't sleep well. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised to hear this. The queen mattress in your room is relatively new. We also use very high-end spa-grade bedding/pillows in our rooms, too. This is also the first I've heard of that bed not being "comfortable". Again, apologies. I did just check the bed, and it seems as if everything is just fine.I wish the mattress had been more to your liking. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and supporting our small family business. Great little hotel. Very comfortable beds. Only downside was that in the downstairs rooms you can hear everything happening in the lobby dining area. Strongly suggest a door from the lobby to those rooms to cut down on noise. No desk in our room, but the tables in the lobby worked well for early morning work.

Beware!!! This hotel will lose power ( found out it happens a lot!) you will not get any discounts or refunds. We were without power the entire evening so no water , no charging phones for maps when you leave , no shower etc. Was terrible! The owner left the bldg that evening saying “ I’m sure it will come back on by morning”:: It didn’t and we never saw him again when we left at 8:00 am. I left a note asking for some sort of discount but no - saw he immediately charged my card full price. RUN from this place ,

The hotel and the room were great with the esthetic of the historic style décor with modern amenities. The stay was pleasant with gracious host who was helpful in the advising places around the town. The only negative aspect of the hotel is the parking situation. There is parking in the rear, however it is limited. Regardless of that, I would stay at Hotel Charlotte again in the future.

In need of renovation and cleaning
Very run down hotel in need of desperate measure to maintain it. While we understood the impact that Covied 19 had on many small and independent hotels, this was way beyond requiring to be maintained and cleaned or alternative not charge so much for the rooms while still in this condition. Location is great when travelling from Yosemite to Sn Fransisco but otherwise more of a back packers place.

Hello Tigist, and thank you for your feedback. In fairness, though, I'm at a loss as to how to respond. We've never received such a review. My name is Finn, and I'm the owner. Our hotel is BEAUTIFUL and very well maintained. It is a 102-year-old hotel. It is not brand new. The room you stayed in has new mattresses, a lovely clawfoot tub and shower, and spa-quality bedding and towels. We have a professional housekeeping staff that follows strict cleaning protocols. We are a national historic landmark with the finest in-house restaurant & bar in the region. In fairness, this review is unduly critical. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your 1 night stay with us. But, the vast majority of our guests simply LOVE the authenticity of our special little inn. It would have been nice if you had contacted us directly before leaving this review. Our hotel is not, though, as you describe. We are a small family business and we take great pride in doing everything we can to provide our guests with a unique and memorable experience. From our family to yours, best wishes.

The Hotel has a lot of charm but the parking entrance is a bit tricky to navigate as it is a very narrow and tight corner. Take your time turning in. Room 14 has a wonderful shower with a powerful water flow. All the rooms we looked at seemed nice but they are all small. Room 14 is the largest.

Hello Gillian! Thank you for the 10 out of 10! It was a joy hosting you. FYI: there are 2 entrances to our back parking lot. One is the alleyway you describe. The second entrance is far easier to navigate. Only a 1/4 block down the street you can enter and exit by the car wash. It is a wide driveway both in & out. It is the "truck route". Our hotel is a 102-year-old nationally recognized historic landmark. We have smaller rooms that are quite comfortable and a great value. We also have family suites and deluxe rooms with ample space to spread out. Our special little inn has it all! We look forward to hosting you again in the future. Cheers!

Wonderful stay at Hotel Charlotte
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Charlotte for our 25th wedding anniversary. Finn and his excellent staff had a bottle of chilled champagne and chocolates waiting for us in the room when we arrived. It was truly remarkable. We will be going back soon. Service was outstanding and people were really friendly. Thanks again Finn, you didn't disappoint!

We stayed for two nights at this hotel for Yosemite. Groveland is a cute little town and the hotel has easy access to restaurants and supermarket. Our room was good and we had fun playing corn hole in their backyard area. Also, they introduced some local hiking trails when we checked in, which was great for us to kill some time before going to Yosemite. Highly recommend!
