Nice hotel but not what it used to be.

Posted 21-Sep-2016
Pros: the room was kept very clean with new towels on a daily basis. Some staff very friendly and helpful. The food choices were plentiful.
Cons: Better restaurant service. More sun brollies.
Location: Good half hour walk to Playa de Inglis with plenty of shops.
This was our 5th visit to the hotel but things have changed since our last visit in April 2016. the hotel is a lot busier and I presume this is the reason for the changes. No welcome drink as before, plenty sun beds but not enough sun brollies which results in some frustration if you want to spend the day sunbathing, The hotel has now changed its dressing policy when men had to wear long trousers to dinner so you now have a lot of men with shorts and vests, not very nice when eating your evening meal. Did take a while to order drinks during meal times and sometimes had finished first course before getting a drink. Often glasses missing from table settings and a shortage of salt and pepper on tables.

Agradable pero mejorable

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Location: Sin animacion cerca. Hay q dar largo paseo en cuesta para llegar a playa
Tuvimos buena habitacion pero no disfrutamos de la piscina (no era agradable estar en ese agua). Y las tarifas de los servicios son exageradamente desorbitados.

Hotel is not for celebrations

Posted 08-Sep-2016
I wanted to celebrate my daughters 1st birthday and I had already told the hotel and they made no arrangements. I took my own decoration etc and told them to reserve an area. They confirmed to me your table is ready. When I arrived with my guests nothing had been done. it completely ruined my mood. I would not recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel but very quiet area

Posted 04-Sep-2016
Very good service and lovely hotel. Food was great. Just think the rooms could be cleaned a bit better than they were as still had hairs and stuff on floor after cleaners had been in. Staff were all very nice and made you feel welcome. I would return to this hotel in the future

Two problems both important

Posted 29-Aug-2016
The problem with lack of the of sunbeds by pool is farcical, queueing from 8.30 until 9am!! A bigger issue is the lack of security in children's club, the children were allowed to wander in and out unsupervised. Other than these issues the hotel was good but won't return because of them.

Good for sun and relaxation, location not the best

Posted 27-Aug-2016
Originally paid for a b&b stay but soon upgraded to all inclusive (€29 pp/day providing you signed up for 3+ days) when we realised there wasn't a great deal of places to eat and drink nearby, and those that were left something to be desired both in terms of price and quality. Food and drink within the hotel was good, as were the staff there. The hotel entertainment in the evening was very hit and miss, more miss than hit unfortunately. The all inclusive drinks came in handy at this point. The pool area is really nice and was pretty easy to get a sunbed providing you got there for 9am on the dot. If you like a very relaxed all inclusive holiday sat by the pool then this place is great, especially given the weather is virtually guaranteed. There wasn't a great deal of things to do or see beyond the hotel however, and having never been to Gran Canaria before it's not somewhere that I'd rush back to.

OK hotel for a family break, but not spectacular.

Posted 15-Aug-2016
Pros: The large pool at the top was lovely but 3 flights of stairs up from our room so anyone with very young children in a family room needs to watch that.
Cons: The waiters were too busy clearing tables to serve customers and glasses, plates and cups were often in short supply at the busiest times.
Location: Spar super market 10 mins walk to buy water and wine at a fraction of the cost at the hotel!!!
Spent 17 days with my family of 5 at Gloria Palace San Agustin. The family accommodation is in an annex with no views and not very inspiring. The buffet was very good with a great variety of meals. The restaurant got too busy at times so worth reserving a table by the patio doors.

Great hotel in a quiet location

Posted 04-Aug-2016
Pros: Chill out zone on the 9th floor is managed by staff who were fantastic. It is the perfect place to relax with background music and excellent food.
Cons: Lifts need to be improved as only 3 serviced the whole hotel
Location: Quiet location. Walk down to the shopping centre and grab a mouth watering pizza.
Arrived late at night and was given room 36 - no sea view or balcony and overlooked a builders site! Not a good start to the holiday but on speaking to reception we were moved to a room which was lovely on the 7th floor. Rooms cleaned daily and facilities were good. Food in the hotel was varied and the restaurant staff were friendly and efficient. Many previous reviews complained about the sun loungers but we didn't have a problem with them despite the hotel being busy. The chill out zone on the 9th floor is the jewel in this hotels crown. Perfect place to relax. Met David Tacoronte once again from Gloria Palace Royal - perfect host. Quiet location but if you turn right out of the hotel, first left and left again to follow road you can take a short cut to the beach. Very few bars around the beach area so if you're after night life take a taxi to Maspolomas Yumbo Centre. San Agustin shopping centre, a short walk from hotel, has a spar and several shops. Found a pizza/steak restaurant here which is definitely worth a visit or two.
