Massive hotel and pool complex. Sea 1/2 mile away.

Posted 16-Mar-2017
Pros: Breakfast alfresco. Comfortable room, friendly staff.
Cons: Food quality, smoking not restricted sufficiently
Location: Only hotels on coast. Need a car to see island
Restaurant like a cafeteria to cope with the numbers, so no atmosphere. Breakfast OK. Only had one buffet style evening meal and pork was quite rare! Food often cold before you got to your table. Wide selection but not the best quality. Excellent spa and pool complex adjoining, but at extra cost. As the holiday was booked late and the hotel cost us less than most apartments it represented reasonable value. We eat out a lot anyway, so poor quality evening meal not an issue. Definately would not wear the blue hospital style wristband identifier for all inclusive.

Large hotel with all facilities

Posted 13-Mar-2017
We had a lovely time at Gloria Palace where we stayed in a family room with half board. The room and balcony was very spacious although they could have been cleaned a bit better, and the beds were slightly uncomfortable. The food was good and there was loads of choice both at breakfast and dinner. Would have liked to see a bit more fresh salads though. Perhaps we were there out of season. The outdoor pools were great as was the thalasso, which we visited once. We were a bit dissappointed to note this is not included in the rate as we had been lead to believe, but it was still worth the cost for the spa experience.

Much bigger hotel than we expected

Posted 26-Feb-2017
Came away for four days sun in February. The hotel was huge, about 1200 rooms and far larger than we expected. However it was quite well appointed and had a fabulous salt water heated spa (which did cost extra, €24 a session, but worth every penny) and a classy second restaurant on the 9th floor next to the chill out area. The crowds didn't seem to make it up there and it was well worth the visit.

Gran Canaria holiday break

Posted 20-Feb-2017
Pros: The staff were very friendly, good quality accommodation, and very good heath spa facilities
Cons: The availability of good quality tourist excursion advice and assistance
Location: Very nice sandy beaches easily accessible, shops and restaurants only a free bus ride away, nice pool and spa facilities on site.
This was a post Christmas holiday break with my wife. While the hotel is not very close to the beaches, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to/from the beach so this was not really an issue, and shops are in easy walking distance from the hotel. We had half board and the food was good quality and plenty of variation to cater for all tastes in our opinion. The staff were friendly and helpful to the best of their abilities, though there was a shortage of experienced front desk staff - too many trainees for efficient service and often kept waiting for the most basic queries to be sorted out. The major bone to pick is there was virtually no help in terms of advice regarding tourist excursions - you were just given brochures to look at and make your own guesses as to which trips were worth taking. In trips to a previous location, there were dedicated staff to assist with booking of excursions, and to give advice as to what trips would suit our specific needs which vastly improved our enjoyment of the holidays in question

Had an excellent time, children didn't want to leave. Food half board great. Pools good. Spa pool (for adults) amazing! Surprises for kids, especially santa and presents on xmas eve! Great stay, would come back. Shuttle to beach good as well.

Great base for a cycling holiday

Posted 12-Dec-2016
Pros: Relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of food choices (not Cordon Bleu) and an on site bike hire shop (a satellite of FreeMotion - excellent bikes)
Cons: The hotel possibly needs updating in places - but then it wouldn't be as cheap as it is now !
Location: We rode bikes all day, every day - into the hills - spectacular scenery. The immediate vicinity is typically Spanish touristy! Beach 10-15 mins walk
Stayed with four friends who's soul intention was to cycle around the Island. It's a great base for that. I'd say it was at the bottom end of four star, but nothing to complain about. Public rooms and areas are very good. Staff very helpful and pleasant (Juan Carlos in the Reception area bar is "Fantastico"). This is probably a Family and 'Retireds' hotel with the full range of entertainment and activities - but not in an in your face way. Mainly young couples there also. I'd ask for a room with a sea view - some of the others will not give the same experience.

Bland food and fly problems

Posted 21-Nov-2016 on Hotels
The hotel is a little dated but well maintained. The staff are excellent but it all went downhill with the restaurant. Thr good was good quality but bland and lacking any flavour. The hotel also had a fly problem, they ate everywhere and really bad in the outside seating area or the restaurant. Although all inclusive we only lasted two nights in the restaurant and then switched to the many excellent restaurants nearby

Friendly staff, clean and elegant hotel.

Posted 09-Nov-2016 on Hotels
We had a great time. Staff was very friendly especially at the reception desk. Big thank you to Pawel for a warm welcome. Bar and restaurant staff less fluent in English but all going the extra mile. We stayed in two bedroom close to the upper pool area. Very handy when staying with school age kids. Loads of activities for both adults and kids. Mini disco for kids and diffrent show for adults each night. Some shows much better than other. We had a half board plan which worked out pretty well for us. One thing that was a bit odd was extra charge for water and no option to use juice or tap water dispenser at dinner. These were available at breakfast. We were told and asked to sign the towel on sunbed ban policy at the arrival but this hasn't stopped most of the people from placing their towels early in the morning. I complained to staff on day two. Day three I joined the crowd and drop our five towels early in the morning. If you have a bad back you may find beds a bit uncomfortable. Hotel has a gymnasium which has all you need when away to keep your muscles in shape. We did enjoy our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Not for the independent traveller

Posted 06-Nov-2016
The hotel can be reached in approximately 20 minutes by taxi from the airport at a cost of ~€35. Alternatively you can travel to the hotel by public bus for a cost of €3. Take service number 66, (which goes to Playa del Ingles) and get off at San Agustin (the stop is just opposite the San Agustin Shopping Centre). Note that if you have a lot of luggage, the hotel is approximately 5 min walk up a fairly steep road. The room I was allocated was on the 5th floor, furnished to a good standard (including fridge) and had a wide selection of TV channels. The room had a balcony with a view of the pool and surrounding area and I only had occasional issues with noise. There is also a free, fast and stable Wi-Fi connection available for guests, however you have to pay for use of the room safe (€2.50/day). The breakfast buffet is very good in terms of quality and choice, but it was way too congested for me to really enjoy the experience. This is a big and very busy hotel and I found the hotel staff, particularly the front desk, somewhat impersonal and lacking in warmth (no doubt a function of the number of guests they deal with). In summary, I would not recommend this hotel or its location to the independent or more discerning traveller as this hotel is clearly geared towards the mass travel market.
