"Wonderful stay. Convenient location for motorway, good parking. Modern clean comfortable accommodation. Staff friendly and helpful. Loved the free tea in reception & hot water tap in corridor. Top class hairdryer & tongues. Simple but really couldn’t fault it."

The Oakwood Hotel

The Oakwood Hotel

8/10 Good
"Liked it here and staff really friendly, however one of the 2 beds in our twin room was, I would say ‘dead’. Any firmness it had ever had was long gone. Also an electronic beeping noise all night from I think either the door lock or the room card key holder (very annoying) Breakfast was really nice but chaotic as only 1 staff member trying to hold the fort. At least 10 rooms all descended on the breakfast room at 8am and with only 1 person running it, it was slow and chaotic. Like I said though, the actual breakfast was excellent. Just needs a bit of attention. Otherwise nice place to stay"

The Royal George Birdlip by Greene King Inns

The Royal George Birdlip by Greene King Inns

8/10 Good
"Perhaps the reception staff should undertake more training in communication and perhaps slow down and do one job at a time!!! That way not causing a really sad ending to a very long trip from North Yorkshire to Birdlip. Having checked in, full names address etc car details signed form at about 5pm and confirming that a meal booked with them for 4 people arriving for drinks at 7 and a meal booked for 4 at 7.30pm was all in order YES yes all in order.. A short rest taken, came down at about 6.45 pm from our room to advise the reception that our two guests ,(the gentleman could not be missed as he was very tall 6.4 tall slim with a short wife) would be arriving from Cirencester at 7pm for drinks before the meal and would they send them down to us in the restaraunt which was booked by us through the Royal George for 4 at 7.30pm earlier in the week for that evening. THEY WERE TOLD THEY HAD NO PERSONS BOOKED EITHER IN THE HOTEL OR FOR A MEAL THAT NIGHT...They went home as there was no signal either way re our mobiles. On checking ourselves returning to the reception as the time was about 7.30 was informed that yes two people had visited reception BUT THEY HAD BEEN TOLD WE HAD NOT BEEN CHECKED IN AND THERE WAS NO MEAL BOOKED FOR THAT EVENING ...THEY WENT HOME THINKING THAT THEY HAD GOT THE DAY WRONG ..We were able to use the house phone to call them and explained what had happened..WE WERE NOT HAPPY CHAPPIES...all our arrangements for the whole weekend had to be altered.."

Wild Thyme & Honey

Wild Thyme & Honey

10/10 Excellent
"Ive stayed in nicer rooms , ive ate in nicer bars but ultimately its the people that make a hotel. And the people at wilde thyme and honey are fantastic. A special shout out to Izy who couldn't do enough to help. The rooms are cosy and warm with thoughtful touches like pillow spray and a spot of sloe gin which was beautiful, the on site restaurant/ pub was lovely with a great drinks selection. The pantry is a useful addition for extra bits that you may need during your stay. One genuine gripe is that the car park is dangerously dark after dark. There is no lighting at all. All in all it was great. I would return for sure."
