Charmantes Hotel in guter Lage

Posted 02-Nov-2016

Close to center of town!

Posted 18-Oct-2016
Pros: Close to bus and train stations Close to center of town (shops, restaurants, entertainment) Clean Great water pressure in the shower
Cons: Unaware we had breakfast included when we checked in. No one told us and the wifi was shoddy in reception area.
Location: Restaurants, pubs, bars, shops, park, transportation
The Western Hotel was easy to get to, clean, and comfortable.

Pays to complain

Posted 12-Oct-2016
Pros: Good food, great location, nice staff
Cons: Saturday night in small room right above staff smoking area and subsequently no sleep.
Location: Easy to walk everywhere in Galway.
First room small and noisy but given the staff moved us to better room when complaint made we were satisfied with accomodation. Great food for both breakfast and dinner. Cosy bar in hotel. Friendly, efficient staff.

Location: Convenient to Eyre Square, downtown and restaurants.
When we checked in the clerk said we had been given a free upgrade to one of their apartments. When we got in there we were blown away . It was a spacious apartment with loads of room, a great view, lacking nothing, and beyond our expectations.

Modest hotel with unusual layout

Posted 02-Oct-2016
The Western has a great location if you want a short walk to Galway's Eyre park, city mall, train station, tourism Ctr, or new Coach (bus) Ctr for tour buses. We were given an upgrade to a "suite", which is actually a 2-bedroom apt. with bath, and eat-in kitchen. All good, but the route to the suite is through the parking garage to the back alley, up stairs to an open balcony to the "suites". The old-fashioned door key only locks the door if you figure out that you have to turn the handle while turning the key. The washer/dryer combo would be wonderful, if I hadn't discovered that the dryer didn't work-no heat, no spin, no drying of two loads of clothes. So if you're looking for a modern, all conveniences hotel, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a easy trek from the train, this is it. No complaints about staff--this is not Faulty Towers!
