Modest hotel with unusual layout
The Western has a great location if you want a short walk to Galway's Eyre park, city mall, train station, tourism Ctr, or new Coach (bus) Ctr for tour buses. We were given an upgrade to a "suite", which is actually a 2-bedroom apt. with bath, and eat-in kitchen. All good, but the route to the suite is through the parking garage to the back alley, up stairs to an open balcony to the "suites". The old-fashioned door key only locks the door if you figure out that you have to turn the handle while turning the key. The washer/dryer combo would be wonderful, if I hadn't discovered that the dryer didn't work-no heat, no spin, no drying of two loads of clothes. So if you're looking for a modern, all conveniences hotel, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a easy trek from the train, this is it. No complaints about staff--this is not Faulty Towers!
