"This might have been the best room I stayed at on this trip to Japan. Very spacious, free minibar, nice balcony and of course the star of the show, the private onsen.. which was absolutely fantastic. The onsen was clean, at a hot temperature and felt genuinely healing. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast was equally as impressive, very well thought and put together dishes that explored a variety of unique tastes. We explored the grounds too and got some very nice pics as the gardens are very well maintained. Only negative really was the separated beds."

"All in all great value for money, with very helpful staff and very clean rooms and great amenities. I did learn something about Japanese habits, though. The “kakeyu” tub in the otherwise great bath house was out of service and I noticed that most Japanese customers did not bother washing first when they can’t use the “kakeyu”. They stepped int ook the bath without even rinsing, so I hope the hotel will quickly restore the “kakeyu” tub. Also, I think it would be a good idea if the dinner menu and breakfast buffet had at least some local food from Kameoka or Tanba (black beans, local beef…?) on the menu. Otherwise, I can only applaud this hotel. Will definitely stay again."
