![The present church is medieval and has changed little since about 1450 although there are remains of a church from 1135 which was destroyed by fire at the base of the tower. 1247 was when the foundation stone of the present church was laid and several original features of this time remain, the lower middle part of the tower, a winding staircase which would have provided access to the rood screen, a squint which would have originally been on an outside wall to allow the “unclean” and excommunicated to watch the consecration at the altar and several other features such as tomb stones. In the early 1300’s the church was altered with Sir Walter Friskney, a judge at the Court of the Exchequer in the reigns of Edward III and Richard II, being the benefactor. The nave was heightened by the addition of the clerestory and a third level was added to the tower. The chancel was also enlarged. The sedilia is late 14th century. The clerestory was decorated with wall paintings in 1320 and they can still be seen, although very faint (with the exception of The Last Supper, which was restored in 1978 at a cost of £1000). The north and south aisles were built in the 15th century and nave arches replaced the walls. The upper part of the tower now had a belfry added too plus the chancel and chapel screens were erected. "Booked through Expedia, easy booking, good communication. Nice little end terraced property suited us for the night. We was visiting family so only slept in property. Property was tidy, code was given on day, parking space available with permit left on table, beds comfy, powerful shower. Quite area, floorboards are loose which rattles the floor and wardrobes. Don't know about area. No teabags or milk so bring your own. Thank you for the stay much appreciated. "

"Will stay here again. No parking outside the property, but there is a car park which is to pay for. Everything you need in the apartment. Only downside was that there was a rancid smell coming from the kitchen , which made you feel sick. So sprayed perfume all over it. Wasn't enough forks to feed the three of us. Will be back again "

"Although the hotel has the status Manor it was a bit tired in some areas. The breakfast area needed to be stocked up a few times and ran out of a couple of things. Staff mainly helpful and friendly Ordered food from the lunchtime menu when we arrived and the prawns in our food were a bit hard and the pasta was not linguine it was tagliatelle. Arrived back not too late from our party and the hotel bar was shut "

"Hotel Review – Skegness The Royal Hotel Had a really good stay at The Royal Hotel in Skegness. Overall, the place offered everything we needed for a comfortable couple of days away. The car parking was easy, and the hotel sits in a lovely spot close to both the seafront and the Country Park, so getting out for walks was simple. The bar had a nice range of drinks, and the hotel serves both evening meals and breakfast. Breakfast was a classic full English done well, with cereals, juices, and the usual teas and coffees on the side. No complaints at all there. The room itself was spacious and had everything you'd expect — TV with a remote, tea and coffee, toiletries in the bathroom, and even a fan. The windows could be opened too, which was great for a bit of fresh air. The surrounding area was busier than expected for March, especially when the sun came out. Even though it’s still pre‑season, there were plenty of places open in the town centre for food and drinks in the evening. Being so close to the seafront was definitely a bonus. All in all, a very good stay with very little to fault. Would happily recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Skegness."

Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't available to us due to golfing group activities which was one of the reasons that this hotel was chosen. "Dukes head is a a grand building. The hotel is beautifully decorated and extremely clean. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Restaurant was friendly and food excellent quality and value. "I was using the Park just as a base so would not be fair to comment further on it as a holiday venue, that said there were lots of happy faces, everyone seemed occupied with events of an evening. Child and dog friendly with the former having their own entertainment programme. My mobile home was clean, well equipped for what I needed and I could park outside the accommodation. As I say it was a base and I went out every day, didn't use any of the facilities aside from the bar for a beer and snack and that was good quality and reasonably priced. Staff at reception were helpful and there is a shop on site that, given it has a closed market, seemed very reasonable and well stocked. I had a fun even though I am not sure I was there so to do!"
