Wonderful outdoor area

Posted 22-May-2016
Pros: Outdoor grounds.
Cons: New mattresses.
Location: Islamorada and Marathan are a mere 10 mins. drive on either side of Longs Key. That's where you'll want to go for activities and restaurants.
Our room looks to have been recently remodeled. Nice stone tile floors and small but also updated bathroom. Traditional white furniture was pleasing. The mattress was on the sad side--creaked and not very comfortable. We stayed in a patio room with water view. Ideally, get the balcony room and if you don't have a water view you will probably be facing a parking lot. Breakfast served next door was basic but fine--apples, pastries, etc., nothing hot. The staff was friendly and helpful. The standout of the Lime Tree Bay Resort was the outdoor area. It was well maintained and had hammocks, nice lounge chairs all fairly private with a couple of chairs here and there. There was nice vegetation and a hard dirt/sand ground rather than concrete. In addition to normal line of lounge chairs at the pool, there were two large round, plush chairs (almost like a small sofa) with a canvas awning. Wonderful! Unfortunately there was no beach area. During our visit it was relatively quiet. The big negative was the stench of seaweed while we were there. About half of the area smelled so you had to cover your nose. There must have been a storm that washed it into the bay and the seaweed sat there for who knows how long. Yech. Other than that, we would have been satisfied given what we paid though the mattress was a drawback. Would recommend to a friend if they're not picky and suggest they call ahead to ensure no seaweed.

Great hotel for the price. Comfy and clean. Friendly staff. Nice view of water but not typical beach access for swimming. Pool was nice.

Stop over before Key West

Posted 05-May-2016
Pros: Location, outside area, assigned parking spot.
Cons: Not sure but I mentioned bathroom has no vanity space.
Location: Close to Bahia Honda beach, deer park, Robbie's, an hour from Key West.
Really liked the grounds. Good view of sunset. If there longer we would have used kayak and bikes. If you do not eat at the restaurant on site, it is 8 or so miles to find another one. Continental breakfast included and adequate. Shower is good, no sink area for products. Bed was comfy.

Unexpected surprise

Posted 05-May-2016
This establishment right off the water is a hidden gem...I was greeted by one of the most welcoming front desk I have ever come across. My choice of a nice cup of coffee on arrival was a nice touch...check in/out was easy fast and painless....explanation of the facilities was made verbal and on paper...nice little restaurant right next door was just the same...easy and welcoming...the room I was given the studio newly renovated was right off the water, super nice ... Entire trip gets a A+. Will def visit again the the near future....

Okay hotel on the Florida Keys

Posted 30-Apr-2016
Pros: Location next to the ocean and large hammocks and chairs along the beach.
Cons: The bed was awfully noisy and the sheets were terribly rough. Hotel sheets are typically very soft and silky.
Location: Nothing to do nearby....but some good beaches within 25 miles and Key West 65 miles away.
This hotel is quaint but older is both condition and upkeep. The rooms are dated but comfortable. The best thing about it that it so close to the ocean , right out the front door.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a great place to relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset. The small restaurant on site had very good food.

Lovely facility, but...

Posted 24-Apr-2016
Pros: Though older, it's well maintained & clean & in a convenient location. Sunsets are spectacular, but not viewable from the unit we were in.
Cons: Staff response to issues.
Location: The scenery is spectacular anywhere in The Keys & there are amazing restaurants within 10-20 miles either direction.
We thought the rooms were small & on the water, but our room was across the street in an amazing, roomy one-bedroom unit with full kitchen, huge deck. Two problems: Billed as no pets except service animals & we had to listen to a poor dog barking fairly non-stop, and while relaxing in a large hammock on our deck, one end tore loose dumping me onto my head on the wooden deck - very painful & still hurting 2 days later. Staff insincerely said "sorry" about both issues; would have been nice to feel they even cared.
