The hotel was not what I expected, it was MUCH better!…from the pictures it might seem old but it’s not. I loved the modern art, the little concept and especially, the view… breathtaking. Only thing I would improve would be the dining experience. They only had buffet for about 6500 isk. If you want something light, there’s a restaurant at the gas station, the lady there is lovely and cooks hot sandwiches. They closed at 9pm but sometimes later.

This was a very nice hotel. The staff was super helpful and kind. The rooms modern and clean. Basically 5 star. No complaints.

I recommend this hotel. The room was simple but comfortable. Breakfast was great. Because of an unexpected long drive we checked in after 10 pm. They were very accommodating by providing a phone number to call when we arrived and access to our room key.

This is a small hotel in a converted bank. The vault is now their wine cellar. It’s a small operation and Reception closes at 10 pm, but they were able to leave us a key for a late arrival. Given it’s original design, the layout is idiosyncratic. We had to go down stairs to the basement and then back up to get to our room. There’s no elevator. The room was simple—modern, clean, and generously sized. The bed and sofa bed were both very comfortable. The room had instant coffee, tea and a mini-fridge. We did not stay for the extra-charge breakfast.

the heater and shower had no heating and when we told the staff after checking out they said they will go and check. When we left they said the shower and heater were working fine accusing us of lying. This is very wrong. Will not recommend this place to anyone.

We are sorry for your bad experience.This issue has been checked and we did not notice any abnormalities with the water end heating in your room.The heater was working at its highest and there was still warm water on the shower head before our staff even let the water run. When they turned on the water it turned out to be really hot. It must be a misunderstanding. We feel sorry that you did not mention anything positive. Fx our staff helped you with finding a place to eat because you arrived late when you came back she asked how it went and offered you her own food to make sure that you would not go to bed hungry.Kind regards

It’s a small but nice hotel with beautiful surroundings. Comfortable beds, spacious bathroom. We wish there was an elevator so we didn’t have to carry luggage up and down stairs. This makes it difficult for some elderly people.

We booked a double Room with Private Bathroom and stayed for 1 night after a long day exploring the Eastern Coast of Iceland. We were quite stressed to arrive at the hotel before the end of the check-in time, stated as 10pm. During Summer in Iceland, it never really gets dark, and we wanted to see as much as we could before our arrival at Fjardabyggd. Anyway, we arrived around 7pm and were greeted very warmly by an efficient Sophia at front desk. We were given a room on the ground floor facing the back garden of the hotel. Although we were surprised that it was an accessible room, we didn’t mind at all because it was a very spacious room, with a huge bathroom (see photos). The room is of a simple décor, our bed was comfortable, and the room was well cleaned and heated. The shower was hot with good water pressure, and basic toiletries were provided for. Wifi was fast and free. We slept very well at night, as it was very quiet, and the black-out curtains worked great. Our only complaint was that the room has no table and chair for our use, and this was an inconvenience for us to do work on our laptop. We did not have any meals in the hotel, so, are not able to comment on that. For the price that we had paid for the room, we are satisfied, and have no qualms at recommending this hotel to others who needs to make a stop in this area.

Hello Stephen, I'm sorry to hear, we met several times and talked but you never mention the bed, it would have been no problem to fix that. And there is a restaurant in the town, called Kaffihusid Tindurinn, I'm sorry you missed that.

The manager was absolutely delightful as she was so knowledgeable of the area and helped with suggestions. The location was ideal for those who want to experience a relatively secluded town on a fjord with a huge mountain overshadowing the town form the other side of the fjord. It really was a spectacular situation and her assistance was a bonus. Will return to this spot.

Quiet hotel in a fishing village
This is a small hotel in a small town. The staff isn't always on duty, but they live nearby and come when there's a call (for example, to check you in). The rooms are super clean and plenty comfortable, and the place was very quiet. The town itself is a fishing village. There's not much to it outside of fishing, a gas-station, a mini-mart, and a couple of establishments that are pub/coffee shop.

Converted bank and very nice place to recharge
Very nice hotel in converted bank. Nice people running the place. We were exhausted by this time and needed to recharge. The hotel certainly accommodated that. This was the most pricey place we stayed in in Iceland. 7 locations over 8 days. It was appropriately priced and was very nice. We did not book the real high end places, but I did priced Fosshotel, and don't believe I missed out on anything. I did save a lot of money. Also, in the area the Thai restaurant was truly very good.

Very Nice Hotel in East Fjords Region
Modern, comfortable, clean hotel. Good location central to the East Fjords region. Convenience store across the street. Walking distance to a few restaurants, or 20 minute drive to other towns. The staff was amazing: warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
