Great old school luxury resort. Spa sauna pool, great dining. Quiet, relaxing, luxurious. Fully renovated while retaining old world charm. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We were looking for a hotel close to the city center but for only one night due to our schedule. Most hotels within the old town center required two nights. Then I found Hotel Holznerwirt. An absolutely lovely hotel just outside the city within an easy driving distance (or train ride). Beautiful outside garden seating for a quick coffee or a lingering lunch, a very nice restaurant, the room was spotless and very cute, and a full European breakfast was included.

Historic buildings, beautiful church next door make this a pleasant place though it felt a bit dark. Room was clean and had a balcony that overlooked pool and garden. As older guests, the shower/bath with glass doors was really difficult to exit and no usable safety bars were available. If possible, request a room with only a shower. Restaurant was closed while we were there; we drove a bit to find an open restaurant, but the one we found, on the shores of the Wallersee, was fantastic.

If you like idyllic settings, this is the one for you. The Hotel is a wonderfully preserved. Breakfast is excellent with many choices. Rooms are not A/C but you can open the large windows to let the breeze in. I would highly recommended

Very nice place
Absolutely amazing hotel! Super laid back vibe, the saunas are great, they let me check out later, use the saunas after I checked out. The breakfast was just excellent. Had dinner in the restaurant which was again really great - very happy with my stop over.

Nice Hotel - Clean and Quiet
I booked a single room, which was enough for my 2 night stay. The room had a twin bed but also a small table and chair/bench. The room was relatively comfortable, clean and quiet. It also had a small patio. It did not have air conditioning though, which I knew but thought that at this time of year I would not need it. Parking is on street right in front of the hotel. The breakfast is amazing and the restaurant for dinner was really good. This hotel is around 8 miles from Salzburg.

Just fantastic!
We have stayed here before and will again! And soon I hope! Very clean, very, very friendly staff great food, excellent breakfast, great Sauna facilities, and oh so easy for Salzburg with the excellent bus service that you can forget the car ! Lots and lots of walking to be done in every direction. Just fantastic!

The hotel is very charming clean and comfortable. There is a refrigerator in your room, no coffee maker or bottled water. the area is cute and the room is very comfortable and the food in their restaurant makes up for all of that

The breakfast buffet and our room was beyond amazing and comfortable, and the staff members were very helpful. However, we found the hotel extremely difficult to locate and travel to as the hotel was located very far from the Salzburg tourist attractions..

Very comfortable room (bed was excellent), very quiet and the wi-fil was great. The restaurant for both breakfast and dinner was very good and reasonably priced. I look forward to returning when I am back in the area.

Fantastic experience from A to Z. The staff accommodated our late check-in. The room was impeccably clean, large, with a gorgeous balcony and unique in it's rustic style. The sauna / spa was spotless and the breakfast very rich. Although it was a one night stay, the experience was so good we decided to plan a holiday and stay at Holznerwirt because of this.

Charming hotel but uncomfortable in extreme heat
Our family stayed here during the heat wave which strongly affected our stay, as there was no way really of cooling the room down. There was no ac and no windows. We had a patio so we could leave it a bit open but then were bitten by mosquitoes all night. Especially because there is no flat sheet, only a thicker duvet, so had to let the mosquitos have at us. The beds had a wooden frame that came up at mattress level on the sides, but the mattresses were old and sinking so it was painful sitting on the wood to get on and off the bed. The building is old so the floors were really creaky. I usually wouldn't mind but because we were sharing the room with my 1.5 year old, it meant she woke up any time we did. We had asked for an infant crib but didn't receive one, so I'm guessing they are not available. The building is quite old and charming otherwise. The views are stunning. No complaints about the service, and breakfast had a nice variety.

Brautiful hotel but in middle of nowhere. Lovely breakfast traditional place.Lovely spa. Only stay if driving. Bus not regular and about 30 minutes from salzburg. lovely views of hills but no lakes to be seen.If go to salzburg go see lakes.

It was a quaint, nice hotel but no lift in the annex portion where we stayed made it difficult to maneuver the stairs with baggage. Other than that I liked it fine and it was reasonably priced.

Stay here! It'll be the highlight of your trip!
We jumped hotels during our Austria trip, but I wish we had stayed here every night. The woman at reception was very nice and dressed in a lovely Austrian dress. The room was very nice and large. The surrounding area was interesting. Breakfast the next morning was great. Robert made the rounds making sure everyone was happy, and spent time with us giving us recommendations around Salzburg. it's a great place, worth every penny!

Great Place to Visit Salzburg from
We stayed here as we were travelling with a 2 year old and wanted more room for our $. This place was amazing, only about 7-8 minute drive to Salzburg, nice quite town and an amazing property. The staff were fantastic and accommodated all of our wishes. The room was large with a balcony and beautiful views. Absolutely lovely hotel with an amazing spa.
