1. Hotel Barcarola 2

Campo nell'Elba

"This is a lovely small hotel with wonderful staff (particularly Josepe and Stefana). At the time we were there there was also a suited gentleman who was apparently a Director who hung around in reception looking very austere and unwelcoming. Unfortunately we were not able to use the pool, which was one of the reasons we chose the hotel, and there were no streaming channels available on the television, only Italian ones. We would return for the convenience, location and excellent staff."

Hotel Villa Wanda

Very peaceful location set in a natural environment with nice views of the distant hills and sea. The hotel is well looked after and the staff are very helpful. Food was generally very nice. We had half board and enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. En route to the local beach you have to cross a road with fast moving traffic so you need to be vigilant and on your toes. It would be great if a pedestrian crossing point was established here as it felt a bit intimidating trying to negotiate getting...

The property seemed very new and was very clean and spacious. We did have a room with a terrace but being December and in the middle of a storm we didnt get to use it but I'd imagine it would be lovely on a nice warm evening. It is overlooked by high rise buildings so not private. We felt very welcome on arrival and were shown how to use the facilities. The rooms are above a restaurant which even though they had a party that evening we didn't hear much noise and very local to the main streets...

Domus Socolatae Residenza d'Epoca Charming B&B

This was a real gem. I had a single room but the bed was bigger than a regular single bed and was very comfy too. The facilities in the room were excellent and classy, including a shower that had a fine array of options and was switched on by a remote control, a first for me! Breakfast was in a lovely room and the table settings were, again, very classy. The host was gracious and accommodating including setting breakfast for me early on the day I left. All in all, I recommend highly.

Riva Toscana Golf Resort & SPA

Follonica

8/10 Good

Very relaxing spa hotel. If you use all the spa facilities, they are really quite good. But lack of staff assistance and info meant I didn't even discover some of the excellence until leaving. I even enjoyed the foot spa, only once, 4 pools red hot, blue cold. very bland when the taps are not adding jacuzzi effect and the taps only come on at random times. We did not realise the spa shower had interesting features (like warm trickle). I had a Massage from Gaia.... It was 5*...cannot fault! but...
